Posted April 21, 201411 yr How I compile my charts: With a few exceptions, I don't go out of my way to seek out new songs - I usually wait until I hear them on the radio. I mainly listen to Radio 1 and for this reason, most (though not all) songs in my chart are those which are played on Radio 1. I don't usually add a song to my chart until it's started gaining some airplay. Songs generally tend to climb gradually as they grow on me, peak and then fall fast, so the chart looks similar to an 80's/90's singles chart. I also usually get bored of a song within a few weeks, so songs don't generally tend to hang around the chart for more than a few weeks - typically around 9 or 10 weeks for a Number 1. Thankfully this doesn't fit into the latter, I do like this, but it's got nothing on 'Smile', 'The Fear', 'LDN', etc. 15 (27) Foxes - Holding Onto Heaven (2 wks / HCP 15) [27-15] Just heard this today, it's not as good as 'Let Go For Tonight' - hopefully it'll be a grower! 16 (17) Paolo Nutini - Scream (Funk My Life Up) (6 wks / HCP 16) [35-31-29-22-17-16] Paolo defying all the odds with his everlasting relevance - hopefully this isn't the only song I particularly care for by him, like 'Candy' in the last era... 25 (29) Kooks - Down (3 wks / HCP 25) [34-29-25] I want to love this. The Kooks' have some classic tracks and Konk was a cracking album - but this was good for a couple of listens, and has grated on me in a BIG way. :( 28 (-) Lady Gaga - G.U.Y. (1 wks / HCP 28) [28] I wasn't exactly expecting this to smash, but what an absolute disaster it's turned out to be so far. Shame, as it's better than 'Do What U Want' imo.

Hey Juranamo! 1 - yeah I guess it has come out of nowhere, fully deserving of being huge in my opinion though! 11 - completely agreed, nothing this era has come close to her previous stuff, even though it's listenable enough. 15 - it's definitely a grower, I didn't think it was that great when I first heard it, but will be challenging for my Top 5 next week! 16 - weird that he's only on his third album, it feels like he's been around for years. 25 - I know what you mean, this is grating on me a bit now too... I loved the singles from Konk :) 28 - she seems to have lost all relevance this era and I don't really know what she can do to save it tbh, 'Sexxx Dreams' would be her best bet I think. April 25, 201411 yr Hi! :D I've never been much of a fan of Ed Sheeran really. I remember liking 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' but the others never really took to me. However I'm really liking this change in style that 'Sing' has adopted - very Timberlake! :o I think this style suits him better. Shame 'G.U.Y' isn't taking off in the charts. :( It's a very good song with a great video to match. I guess this era has been so much of a mess that people have lost interest unfortunately. Fingers crossed that when this ARTPOP Part 2 is released (if it's still going ahead), things will improve.
