I don't think either Switzerland or Finland will cancel The Netherlands out. They're not that similar.

More so malta/switzerland are similar and authentic like the netherlands/finland i should have said. I like all of them but Molly is so different to these i think it'll make her stand out even more.

When is the draw for the actual slots?
There isn't a draw as such I think.....the Danish broadcaster chooses where they go and stand out the most I think! Like they did last year! I assume this will be released tomorrow....

Netherlands - country

Finland - soft rock

Switzerland - commercial radio pop + whistles

Malta - folk rock

That's quite a big difference. Moreso than all the pop and dance we have. The main point you have there is that fans of their genres don't tend to watch ESC in their droves so their vote won't count for as much. Molly is more similar to most of the other tracks in the final so she will stand out if she's surrounded by these but that could go for many others in the second half like France and Denmark.

Yep I agree - but i can't see a huge amount of people voting for the french track. I think denmark will pick up lots because it might as well be bruno mars performing - but for that reason alone i really dont want it to do well! :) or maybe im just being blinkered because i want the uk to win again finally!

In my dreams I can see people flocking to Moustache. It's very bouncy and catchy, I'm almost overplaying it. I'm almost sure it'll be the best performing French entry since Allez Ola Ole at least.

My first couple of listens i really didn't like it or get it and then i become hooked and listen to it on the tube everyday haha it's really great but if it'll connect with europe instantly we will have to wait and see!

Mostly very happy with the qualifiers, but I'm sad for FYR Macedonia and especially Israel. I think if Mei had performed in Tijana's position she would definitely have made it just like 'Crisalide' and Valentina would've done last year. I do love 'Heartbeat' but Kasey did not sing well enough at all and that confirmed my prediction that Ireland wouldn't go through.

Overall the only prediction I got wrong was Slovenia not to qualify and Lithuania to qualify. Tinkara's performance was very good and was definitely one of my favourites and I'm very glad she qualified. I'm surprised that you are all surprised Teo made it, I predicted it to just qualify and it did as he is a very good performer even though the song isn't that amazing.

As I said in the other thread, all of the favourites from this semi were drawn in the first half which is going to make the voting incredibly unpredictable and will definitely benefit the only favourites in the second half - Hungary, The Netherlands and the UK!

Most of that prediction was based on the hope that Europe wouldn't vote something so obviously awful. I did have a healthy FEAR that he'd make it at the beginning of tonight.

as always I trust the record buying public to make the right decision - my top 4, and clear of the pack, by far, and in exactly the right order. That's the top 4 results in an ideal world. Sorry Sanna fans, she got out-balladed...

Molly climbing on UK iTunes - She will have 2 versions in the Top 100, All the others starting to fall away - Hopefully this is an indication of the Top 4! :w00t:

Lithuania surprised me a lot on Thursday night. I wasn't crazy about the song but like with Portugal in the first semi I thought she really gave the performance welly.

My ranking of the performances:

1. Norway

2. Israel

3. Austria (Not crazy about the song but there's no denying Conchita dominated that performance)

4. Macedonia

5. Lithuania

6. Ireland

8. Switzerland

9. Poland

10. Greece
