Biography

Alicia Augello Cook (born January 25, 1981), known professionally as Alicia Keys, is an American R&B singer-songwriter, pianist, musician, record producer, and actress. Keys released her debut album with J Records, having had previous record deals first with Columbia and then Arista Records. Keys' debut album, Songs in A Minor, was a commercial success, selling over 12 million copies worldwide. She became the best-selling new artist and best-selling R&B artist of 2001. The album earned Keys five Grammy Awards in 2002, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for "Fallin'" becoming the second American recording artist to win five Grammys in one night.[4] Her second studio album, The Diary of Alicia Keys, was released in 2003 and was also another success worldwide, selling eight million copies. The album garnered her an additional four Grammy Awards in 2005. Later that year, she released her first live album, Unplugged, which debuted at number one in the United States. She became the first female to have an MTV Unplugged album to debut at number one and the highest since Nirvana in 1994.

Keys made guest appearances on several television series in the following years, beginning with Charmed. She made her film debut in Smokin' Aces which included Ben Affleck, Andy Garcia, Chris Pine, Ryan Reynolds, Taraji P. Henson, Jeremy Piven and also went on to appear in The Nanny Diaries which starred Scarlett Johansson, Laura Linney, Paul Giamitti, and Chris Evans in 2007. Her third studio album, As I Am, was released in the same year and sold five million copies worldwide, earning Keys an additional three Grammy Awards. The following year, she appeared in The Secret Life of Bees with Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Sophie Okonedo, and Dakota Fanning, which earned her a nomination at the NAACP Image Awards. She released her fourth album, The Element of Freedom, in December 2009, which became Keys' first chart-topping album in the United Kingdom. She released her fifth album, Girl on Fire, in November 2012, which became Keys' fifth chart-topping album in the United States. In February 2014, she released the track Zebras and Airplanes, which was recorded 5 years back.

Throughout her career, Keys has won numerous awards and has sold over 75 million records worldwide. Billboard magazine named her the top R&B songs artist of the 2000s decade. In 2010, VH1 included Keys on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Billboard magazine placed her number ten on their list of Top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists of the Past 25 Years. BlackBerry (formerly RIM) named her as its Global Creative Director at the Blackberry 10 Experience event in New York City on January 30, 2013. Keys then opened Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 3, 2013, by singing the "The Star-Spangled Banner". - Wikipedia

Kingdrick slaying non top 30 faves *.*

This song is fantastic and I'm not usually that keen on Alicia's material! Kendrick Lamar sounds very much out of place though.
I didn't like that she sang without moving like an Adele's performance. She should grab the microphone and sang this song around the arena.

It's better that she didn't want to be an Adele imo and I don't think a different performance would have changed the points for Molly tbh.

Absolutely HATE the rap at the start of this song, but Alicia sounds fab, as always! Thank god a no-rap version exists :kink:
It would be awesome if Alicia wore a Spiderman's costume in her videoclip.. :P
In terms of bottom related songs...

Big Sean/Nicki (A$$)>>>Flo Rida/Pitbull (Can't Believe It)>>>>This

I'm assuming Sir Mix A Lot - Baby Got Back is so far in front you didn't see it necessary include it :P

Really like this Alicia Keys song, Kendrick's part feels a bit shoehorned in though.

Love this Alicia Keys song! Kendrick's rap at the start is the best bit though.
It's better that she didn't want to be an Adele imo and I don't think a different performance would have changed the points for Molly tbh.

But her perfrormance wasn't memorable. If she sang around the arena, it could be better for her.

This week's dropouts

23 14 2 Indiana Solo Dancing

34 28 5 Paolo Nutini Scream (Funk My Life Up)

36 27 9 The Chainsmokers #SELFIE

37 31 6 FAUL and Wad Ad vs. Pnau Changes

38 33 8 DVBBS and Borgeous feat. Tinie Tempah Tsunami (Jump)

at least Dvbbs & Borgeous got 8 weeks top 40, it could've been a lot worse. Shame for Faul & Wad Ad only having 6 weeks though, it shouldn't have fell so badly :(

But her perfrormance wasn't memorable. If she sang around the arena, it could be better for her.

Conchita Wurst's performance was even worse, still she won :D

WHUT? Pharrell's album was so instant! :o

Conchita Wurst's performance was even worse, stil she won :D

Conchita has the definition of a diva song. Divas never move.. :smoke:

Absolutely LOVING 'Marilyn Monroe' right now  Decent climb this week but it seems to have stalled on iTunes now :(
Changes doesn't deserve that chart run. What an amazing song. I hope Jubel does a bit better:.
