Pretty good going having released 8 songs for 4 to go to #1, didn't realize her chart history was so good

She's *charted* with 8 songs (in the top 75 anyway, she also made the top 100 with 'Black Widow' the other week), but only released 5 of her own singles, 3 of which were #1s. Which is actually a better ratio :P

It would be even more impressive if (probably likely) this song also debuted with 100k+ like her last three number ones did.

This must be one of the yrs longer chart threads?! 30 pages :0

I blame Eurovision. :P

Anyway, great song from Rita! Her boyfriend providing a fantastic result on production duties, too. ^_^

For all her forced modesty and surprise, can you imagine if Jameela messed up (not difficult) and announced her as #2 - Rita would be like WHAAAAAAAAAAT.....but....midweeks :P.

I really like this song anyway.

easily my favourite Rita Ora track and one of the best no. 1's of this year so far in my eyes

Really annoyed me reading this:

Congratulations to Rita Ora, who has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart today with I Will Never Let You Down. In doing so, Rita is now tied with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell as the British female recording artists credited with the most solo UK Number 1s (four).

Rita made her chart debut in February 2012 featuring on DJ Fresh’s Hot Right Now, which became the UK’s first drum ‘n’ bass track to reach Number 1. She topped the chart again in May of that year with R.I.P FT Tinie Tempah, and again in August 2012 with How We Do (Party).

Yeah so she's had 4 SOLO #1 singles, if you say so Music Week!

'I Will Never Let You Down' sounding a little bit better on second listen but still definitely at the bottom of the list of 2014 #1s for me so far.

4 #1s as a solo artist. 4 solo #1s. 'Solo' isn't actually needed in that sentence as she hasn't had any hits that weren't solo, but it's still correct.

I blame Eurovision. :P

Yeah I know lol how long is the Xmas chart thread - usually similar?! Don't think there's any other weeks that specifically stand out other than when the Saturdays are charting or something like that?!

I'm waiting for the week an artist responds with 'Of course I'll be #1, I was #1 on the midweeks and have had a 50% lead on pop bars all week' :P
One of many reasons why Buzzjack members should be popstars

Hard to get excited about Rita's song really, it's quite good (particularly suited to the weather), but just doesn't feel massive at all and probably won't last that long overall.

Ha, only saw this now :D! This would be my reaction. I'd be banging on about the likelihood of front-loading and everything!

Didn't Cheryl sort of did that when Call My Name was number 1? She was commenting on how it was already number one on iTunes on Sunday (the first day of release).

Nope, solo is 1 artist, not a duet, etc. So she's had 2 solo #1s and 2 #1s with other artists.

'Solo #1s' is clearly being used in this context to mean '#1s as a solo artist'. It's only wrong if you want to be picky about semantics.

Well they need to correct it then and just say 4 #1s, cos that's very confusing! As well, it's not picky, it's about facts.

I'm not sure but it's not beyond the realm of possibility that she's a Buzzjack member . Any noted Lily Allen/Nadine detractors :P?

As per the Suedehead Chart Commentary thread I've amended Michael Jackson's album chart history to include the '18 Greatest Hits' album which is completely missing from the Chartstats archive for some reason. Which means of course 'Xscape' is the 10th #1 album for MJ and not the 9th as I thought!
What kept Michael Jackson of the top of the album chart in July 2009?

???

"Number Ones" re-entered at Number 1 on chart w/e 4/7/09
