I think Tiesto could have saved us from one of the most boring No.1s of the year.

 

I suppose the standard couldn't have been kept all year, I just wish it wasn't some random X Factor finalist to break it.

 

Admitidly it's far from his best, but it's nice to see Tiesto so high in the charts after being absent for so many years.

Well done Skepta looking like coming for at least the top 30. Ella nearly has a 50% lead over Ed who should do another 75k this week as I think he will be on 130k today so Ella should ease past 150k IMO!

You said previously that you dislike when people categorise all dance music as the same but it seems you're doing just that with X Factor-related output. The song is selling so well based mainly on its own merits - you only need to witness the number of people who hadn't been anticipating Ella's music but were won over with 'Ghost', to see that. Fair enough if you don't like it but to dismiss it on the basis of its (tenuous) ties to X Factor is unfair.

Exactly. From what I'd heard of Ella before, I wasn't a big fan of her and didn't think she had great range in her voice. However, I am completely in love with 'Ghost' as it is a fabulous full-on pop song.

So so pleased for Little Mix, they should make it to 6 (even 5) by the end of the evening the way Lana is falling. They've officially bagged their best performing post-album single, it looks like! Goes to show the power of an interesting performance on a talent show. The same thing happened for Leona last year with One More Sleep charting around 30 and then climbing massively after her X-Factor performance. Hopefully airplay will pick up for Salute before it falls out of the top 10, so annoying that Radio 1 prematurely dropped it!
