My prediction is that someone other than Singerpurear will win (but I'm glad to be there).

Can I put a different spin on the discussions? Doing well in the contest is a treat I've not had (yet!) so just enjoy the trip (and it is a trip, uno dos tres quatro!) and if anyone is struggling with time or life issues (something I identify VERY strongly with) let whoever's doing all the work know. Running stuff can be very rewarding, but it can also be a pain if things don't go 100% smoothly (which is just life) and I'm very grateful to others willing to put in the time and effort on my behalf so I don't have to....

on with the show!

We have not formally announced any punishment for Jake, we warned Jake to expect one. This is purely because we are in deep discussions about this as we've not come across this situation. As it stands there is no punishment applied and we are still discussing thing. We are trying to ensure that we are consistent and that the rules are applied fairly. As there is no punishment attached to the rule that says AQ's must vote, this is where our discussion is focused. When we have decided we will tell Jake and explain our reasonings. It's not up for public discussion but the outcome will be a specific rule that sets out a punishment for non-voting as an AQ.

As for the other comments about this democratically changing the mods every 6 months.... Well. Where to begin. One thing we get attacked (no other word fits) for is consistency. A mod team that is consistently changing is not consistent at all. You can't get consistency when you've not got that continuity. I have been doing this job a long time and it's insanely difficult. I would not still be doing this job if I did not think that I could still add value. Democratic elections would never work because above all else this is a MF job and MF mods are appointed by the Senior Management Team and nobody else. We not only have obligations to the BJSC forum but to Buzzjack as a whole as part of that. So our role isn't just running BJSC and trying to do that as consistently as possible while updating rules/veto to keep pace with changing tastes and the contest make up but also trying to bring new and different things to the contest.

At what stage did you tell me to expect a warning? Because I've had nil personal correspondence with you.

Furthermore, on a more lowbrow moment; your words sound very INSERT HERE COMMUNIST and ROBOTIC

'Join BJSC!' they said.

'Be fun!' they said.

:(

(only joking, sometimes I just feel like a child not understanding what the adults are fighting about, carry on!)

This is pretty small fry drama compared to the two months before, trust me! (it is normally fun though, srsly)

Why didn't this happen last contest too? :(

Could I stick my oar in please:

formally announced

deep discussions

no punishment applied

discussion is focused

public discussion

democratically changing

Senior Management Team

I honestly don't think it's an issue important enough for ALL THESE WORDS. I'm singling out one post (SORRY) but this applies to many others in this thread.

omg some ppl discussing whether the current mods are legitimate or not because they weren't chosen by people

is this ukraine or what omg

It's a discussion over how often the mods should change. What's so difficult to understand about that?

My exact thoughts reading this thread

I was joking - it was more that it all seemed very formalised on first impression and I didn't know enough about it to have an opinion/contribute. Was just trying to lighten the tone but I probably shouldn't have said anything :P.

Fair enough!

BJSC is great fun, but with respect to everyone's opinions (and I see why it might come over in certain ways) it's not a democratic country, so the comparison doesn't really work. It's a business dependant on advertising income. Businesses don't vote in new employees, they interview them when vacancies crop up ESPECIALLY true in democracies where people don't get arbitrarily removed from jobs due to what is a very minor issue (much as local government employees like me get personally slagged off when someone doesn't like the response - I provide facts and information to the public and people are frequently not happy about the facts).

That everyone gets so enthusiastic is fabulous, shows BJSC is worthwhile and exciting and very satisfying the number of great songs people enter. I love it, and I was a bit unsure originally due to the time investment needed to listen to so many new songs - but it's worth it. I'm sure any issues will be straightened out and clarified...

and I have no idea who's going to win, but if I was a betting man I'd put a pound on Kylienips.

Kylienips simply cannot win. We can't have them losing their record for most appearances without a victory, that would just be cruel and I'm sure none of us would want to do that to them. :(
