20K for Lana? I guess a little bit disappointing but I guess 55K for the week or something? She will do better over the world... this time the Us is not with her even though UV is perfection but it's too dark and without any hits or so.

I agree that 20k+ is a little bit disappointing even though she's done no promo in the UK AFAIK. Hope there's some lined up for her this week and/or over the coming weeks. Also, early predictions say she'll sell 175-200k in the US so she's actually looking to do relatively better there than in the UK, on her first week at least.

Lana Del Rey will be no1 on albums but it won't sell as well in the long term as born to die. Listened to clips on itunes and it sounds very bland, nothing stands out.

I'm glad Lana is looking to get her 2nd #1 album!

Not surprised about J.Lo. Maybe if she released something vaguely original, she'd have better chart success.

Bland? That's the last thing to say. It's very complete. Try to listen in full, it's insanely great.

yeah, I don't think she'll manage it until late into the week, but I'm Team Ella too! Don't Stop is about as mediocre a song as you can get. 5SOS' free world cup song is actually so much better!

The b-side on the EP, Regrets is 100x better as well, very Sum 41.

True, although I think it's more to do with the fact that there was no pre-order available and that she's done no promotion therefore virtually no casual listeners will be aware of it's release.

Probably a bit of both. However, if she released something with a bit more edge, radio would treat her better and then she wouldn't have to rely on promo.

I am not surprised by the Jennifer Lopez position, she will be lucky to enter top 50 officially as her dedicated fan base would have purchased on release day.

I said to myself that Ella would be able to catch up a 35k lead (I think she will be able to sell 7k a day more than 5 Seconds of Summer on average) so with her being less than 29k behind, I think she'll be able to do it although it will be very close.
Unless 5 Seconds Of Summer get a massive boost 'Ghost' should overcome 'Don't Stop'. The main version of 'Dont Stop' is down to 49.5% on iTunes. It wouldn't surprise me to see it on around 40% come the end of the night.

I would still expect 5SOS to hang on but Ella only needs to catch up by 6k per day which doesn't seem totally outside the realm of possibility...

Boring updates otherwise, there aren't even any fun obscure albums in the top 40 which is looking just as dull as the iTunes album chart made it look. Utterly terrible for JLo only scraping the top 40 in the *first* mids. And only #23 first mids for Klaxons is very bad as well, their last album still went top 10 and that had a lower peaking first single!

'She Looks So Perfect' had a 45k lead on Tuesday and finished the week with a 34k lead so that doesn't give me too much hope for 'Don't Stop' missing #1 with its 29k lead now, but Ella will be selling a lot more than Duke did so the sales will be much much closer.

Considering 5SOS had a 50k lead on Tuesday and it was only 34k on Sunday, this seems to be decreasing at a faster rate and didn't get as big a lead when it did go to number 1. So their lead should definitely be less than 10k even if they manage to hold on. Plus keeping in mind that Duke wasn't increasing that much over the week so they had no real competition otherwise.

It's encouraging, but I sadly think they'll just about keep it by about 6k or something. I'm hopeful for Ella though, I have no problems with the weekly turnover but I'd rather a two weeker and what seems to be a genuinely popular number 1 over what will clearly be a complete flash in the pan.

Just so we have some figures to compare, 'She Looks So Perfect' had sold 65.4k on the Tuesday update - 44.1k lead over 'Changes' at #2 with a 46.9k lead over eventual official #2 'I Got U'.

'She Looks So Perfect' finished with sales of 94.3k meaning the song sold just under 30k in the remaining 5 sales days. While the lead over 'I Got U' had decreased to 33k by the end of the week.

Considering Ella has already sold 10k more than 'I Got U' at this stage of the week (27k against 18k) I believe Ella will be able to keep the #1 unless 'Don't Stop' gets an unexpected sales boost from somewhere.
