I'm still not convinced that the OCC won't exclude the sales of "Sing" that are taken away and become album sales (with 'Complete My Purchase'). Until we know for sure, I'm going to carry on enjoying the chart week; with my fingers crossed that "Gecko" can get some decent sales!

 

Really didn't expect to see Example at #5 on iTunes again any time soon, strange how this release seems to be doing much better than the other two - "All the Wrong Places" was particularly heavy though I'll admit. Eager to see what the album brings, the last was a bit 'meh', hopefully this one can bring it back to good quality.

Pitbull's World Cup song has done significantly worse than Shakira's from 2010. Have to say I'm quite surprised, but I'm not a fan of the track personally.

Jubel, Changes, etc. still sold very well though. There's lots of these kinds of songs which don't even chart at all. Obviously Waves and My Love sold a lot more, but 99% of songs (even songs that millions of people know) are "flops" compared to them.

I think the most annoying thing about this Ed Sheeran thing is that you can't really criticise it in commercial terms as it's pretty much a perfect release strategy. I'd expect next week's chart show will be half chart show half public listening to Ed Sheeran's album! :drama:

"Sing" should start to drop soon, and either "Gecko" or "Ghost" will overtake by Tuesday morning I think. I can't see any of the Ed Sheeran tracks holding up well after the album is released tomorrow. They should mostly plummet, except "Sing" which should remain top 5 at the lowest.

 

I'm rooting for "Ghost" to sneak back to #1 when "Sing" drops!

The new Usher song is pretty good, not his best but I'm glad he's at least strayed away from terrible generic shite a la 'Scream' again. Strangely it's doing pretty much nothing in the USA, although IIRC 'Climax' didn't do much there either and also went top 5 in the UK. Gone are the days of Usher being a huge chart force in the US apparently but he still seems to be doing the business here.
