July 16, 201411 yr I don't think they will playlist The Saturdays I think Little Mix and Neon Jungle probably have the Girlband places filled up on there playlist and I reckon they don't want to support too many Girl Groups as they are not seen as 'cool'. Edited July 16, 201411 yr by troylovesmusic
July 16, 201411 yr I don't understand how they work out their play lists any more. Lily Allen was just in the live lounge, and then she's dropped the next day.
July 16, 201411 yr I don't understand how they work out their play lists any more. Lily Allen was just in the live lounge, and then she's dropped the next day. It's the same deal with Avicii, this week is the release week for both of their singles and they're both flopping. They always boot songs off in their release week if they're doing nothing.
July 16, 201411 yr So they definitely want MAGIC! to be number 1. Some people may be happy about that but I'm not quite sure that they will be that happy when MAGIC! is hammered on radio for months and never leave the top10, because that's what's going to happen. To be fair this happens to most big hits!
July 16, 201411 yr I don't understand how they work out their play lists any more. Lily Allen was just in the live lounge, and then she's dropped the next day. It's also because it's a post album single some acts get pre album A List rotation and then get less support after!
July 16, 201411 yr I think so too, usually when they refuse to playlist a single it means they have dumped the act completely. I think the thing that did it in this case was Living For The Weekend's mega bomb. The thing about the Saturdays is that they were on Scott Mills show a couple of weeks ago discussing the greatest hits and the single does get plays on Sunday nights for instance when the show is specifically aimed at a younger audience!
July 16, 201411 yr Can somebody tell me why Benediction is suddenly getting playlisted now? I remember downloading it when it charted in, what, October 2012?! Fantastic song though. <3

July 16, 201411 yr It's because the single is out this week and it's flopping, not too unusual for them. Ahh, makes sense - I didn't realise its impact date had already been! Poor 'Lay Me Down', it's definitely my favourite Avicii track after 'You Make Me'.
July 16, 201411 yr Well I'm surprised they're sticking with 'Deckchairs On The Moon' then seeing as though it's bombing hard
July 16, 201411 yr The 'dropping songs when they're not doing well' is a thing that only applies to artists that usually do well (and given there are a LOT of examples of them dropping songs on release week or just after even when they *are* doing well I don't really buy that that's the reason anyway, they just don't really support late stage post-album releases that much aside from their favourite artists). If they didn't support anything that's not doing well in the chart then, well, their playlist would be about a third of its current size. And they'd just be Capital FM. ~ Unrelated: fabulous to see Vic Mensa on the A-List, hope this can be a hit for him (and maybe pave the way for Chance The Rapper to have a hit of his own? Seems odd given Chance's Sound of... hype that he's still going to have no chart success beyond a Bieber feature while an 'associate' of his looks set to have a hit quite effortlessly).
July 17, 201411 yr I'm surprised they've dropped 'Stolen Dance' already, thought it would get another couple of weeks on the playlist. I still think it has the potential to go Top 10 though. Sats look unlikely to get playlisted now, although there's still a small chance they could next week. Maroon 5 should get playlisted but not for another week or two yet as release date is end of August. Amelia Lily is very unlikely to get added. And whoever said about Cher Lloyd - get real. There's about much chance of them playlisting the next Cher single as there is of them playlisting the Cher Lloyd single! No one's said yet but 'Sing' was FINALLY dropped this week - with 14 weeks on the playlist, that joins Gotye as the longest playlist run in recent times. Edited July 17, 201411 yr by Mango
July 17, 201411 yr ... and these are times when nobody really listens either. I assume the Sunday night show gets decent figures as most kids are listening while doing their homework which is what alot of the show is about and why they play pop music that isnt on the playlist during it
July 17, 201411 yr Have a look at this article about Nicole Shzerginert not be on the playlist: http://music.uk.msn.com/news/scherzinger-l...radio-1-again-1
July 17, 201411 yr They are such LIARS when they say it's not personal against her. I'd have more respect for them if they just admitted it. I'm so glad their influence isn't as powerful as it used to be.
July 17, 201411 yr Probably because they will not playlist anything she releases no matter what it is, but if it was another person like Katy Perry or Rihanna (for example) doing the exact same thing they wouldn't hesitate. Which kind of makes what they say in that article about it being on "musical merit" and a "case by case basis" complete rubbish. They knew before they even heard the song that they wouldn't playlist her anyway... Edited July 17, 201411 yr by mr_aly
July 17, 201411 yr I wouldn't say that's them being personal just as you say they have to pick from loads of pop brands and they chose Rihanna and Katy Perry ahead of Nicole. They play a wider range of styles etc so if they played all the pop brands there would be no room for the greater diversity radio 1 are famous for!
