August 10, 201410 yr Completely different from what I was expecting. It doesn't have the strongest melody or chorus and it will obviously do nothing but it has a nice relaxed vibe and I actually quite like this style for her. Her vocals actually sound far better than I thought they would too on this type of production.
August 10, 201410 yr Tommie and Silas need to stop trying so hard, we get it you don't like her. I passed a comment about the video budget going to be minuscule because it was an own label release. I've made similar comments about video budgets regarding artists I adore (Hi Jessica Mauboy and Samantha Jade) Hardly 'trying so hard'.
August 10, 201410 yr I actually quite like the track. There is a nice vibe to it. By far the best Amelle vocal I've heard since the C&S era but the backing track stops me loving the track. It's a bit basic and it doesn't seem to be a good fit with the vocal harmony. If it was a bit of an Avicii-esque backing track with an emphatic chorus then it'd be a pretty decent effort.
August 10, 201410 yr In all honesty, she probably choose this because "it's called Summertime and it's summer time!" Will be interesting to see if she dares to put the album out. None of the girls put out stuff on their own label. Hell, even Siobhan backed down once she couldn't score another big label.
August 10, 201410 yr I imagine she will. Digital music costs remarkably little to actually get to consumers and if she's got a good deal on the studio time and stuff then it wouldn't be unfeasible for her to break-even on what fan base she has remaining (assuming she uses Tumble properly). Imagine she'll do a wee tour which is what will bring in the $$$.
August 10, 201410 yr I imagine she will. Digital music costs remarkably little to actually get to consumers and if she's got a good deal on the studio time and stuff then it wouldn't be unfeasible for her to break-even on what fan base she has remaining (assuming she uses Tumble properly). Does she really have a fanbase though? Summertime has just hit 2500 views in 24 hours and Love Is All We Need didn't even make a dent on iTunes and has just passed 30 000 views in a year. It doesn't even seem to me that the few remaining Sugababes fans really check her stuff out. Of course, this entire album could've been done as a favour by Pete Kiertly, but even then it might be cheap, but not free. Perhaps she can capitalise on doing PAs after Tumble, but it doesn't exactly seem like the show that keeps people interest for long, much like Splash! I don't know, no actual shade here, I just find it interesting. On pop forums I visit there's always moaning about just putting it on iTunes when something gets shelved, but it's never quite that simple is it?
August 10, 201410 yr I don't know if any of them really do. It's been a good 4-5years since any of them were really relevant. On the other hand, they have the brand name behind them that gets them opportunities like Tumble to get out there again and try to build back up a fan base again. The best thing for her would be to use Tumble as a springboard to get on things like GMTV/Lorraine and get some promo time for the single. I'm not entirely certain how iTunes actually works from the label side. I imagine there are label politics at hand when things get shelved and they probably don't want to pay for cover art and copyright etc. There is a lot of self-released stuff on there so I imagine the process must be reasonably accomplishable. Gabriella Cilmi has done it all in the past year (flop loon as I haven't really got round to listening yet). I can't imagine iTunes taking upfront fees off small indies but they'd charge for promotional space and front page space. I do know they take a cut of every sale, but every retail establishment does that from Tesco to Amazon.
August 11, 201410 yr I actually really like this, it's a nice break from all the dancepop and the sort that's in the charts at the moment. And the video is very nicely done given it was on the cheap. Unfortunately I can't see this breaking through for Amelle and I'd be very surprised if it even went top 100. Also, I really don't like her hair at the minute, she looks like Nadia Sawalha. Bring back the About You Now FLAWLESS hair please.
August 11, 201410 yr What a non song. Boring beyond comprehension. Why the hell is it 4 minutes long?! I almost died listening to the same chorus over and over and over and over. No breakdown or key change or anything. Oh Amelle. Just give up already?
August 12, 201410 yr I wasn't expecting to like this, but it's actually quite decent! I was expecting her to go down the dance-pop route, so quite surprised. :o
August 12, 201410 yr It's a bit nothingy, which is a shame as I like her voice a lot. Dance-pop bangers please Amelle :(
August 31, 201410 yr Amelle is a quote machine right now: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a59...~oOtwWOsjmgHZDT So much... http://38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8vajw2lph1qatoopo1_500.gif
August 31, 201410 yr She has a point. Sweet 7 is the prime example of that, it's what the label and management wanted. They just had to smile and sell the turd whether they liked it or not. Good to know we could get 3 singles before the album. She might manage to get one onto radio by then
September 6, 201410 yr Pushed back to 21st September. Freederm all over again? Except Freedom didn't look like a tampon commercial.
September 6, 201410 yr Everything about this is awful, this is worse than the bad Sugababes singles such as Girls, Walk This Way and even Soul Sound. Oh well this will probably be a massive top 200 hit, peaking around #199.
September 7, 201410 yr Except Freedom didn't look like a tampon commercial. Well if it pays the bills...
