05. Lotus

http://cdn.idolator.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/05/christina-aguilera-lotus-album-cover-400x400.jpg

Avg: 6.166

Highest Rates: 9 (Mr Aly, gooddelta)

Lowest Rates: 2 (Michael)

Right before I kick off the singles countdown, I'm starting with the albums and in 5th place is "Lotus" Christina's latest offering released in November 2012 and described by Christina herself as a rebirth following the events in her life such as the divorce and her appearance on The Voice. Coming 2 years after the disappointing performance of "Bionic", this didn't do much to boost her career, despite scoring a massive hit with Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" and going back to her pop roots, the album performed even worse where it debuted at #7 in the US and a poor #28 in the UK, and struggled on all worldwide charts, only two singles were released Your Body and Just A Fool, neither were very successful. On this rate the album didn't score a single 10, just two 9's and a couple of average scores. There were a couple of decent tracks on this album such as lead single "Your Body", "Army Of Me", "Let There Be Love" and "Blank Page", but overall pretty underwelming.

30. Feel This Moment (Ft Pitbull)

Avg: 4.76

Highest Rates: 9 (Niall Minogue, Dobbo)

Lowest Rates: -1 (Atonement, SceneofSIXCrimes, Davidson)

At #30 and kicking off the countdown is "Feel This Moment", released in January 2013 and taken from Pitbull's album "Global Warning" and following the disappointment of her recent solo singles, this put her back up the charts by reaching #8 in USA and #5 in the UK, as well as topping the charts in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland and Spain, along with top 10 peaks in Austria, Scotland, South Korea, Hungary, Mexico, Poland, Canada and several others, showing that Christina's success lies with her featuring on another artist's song rather than her own. Despite being a massive success on this rate it fared rather poorly with three -1's, four 0's and not very many high rates.

Army Of Me slays but Lotus is probably her weakest album for me.

29. Say Something

Avg: 5.5

Highest Rates: 10 (Niall Minogue, Ultraviolence)

Lowest Rates: -1 (Dobbo)

At #29 is another collaboration single, this time featuring A Great Big World and released in November 2013 from their debut album "Is There Anybody Out There" and originally released as a solo single by band member Ian Axel's solo album "This Is The New Year" in 2011. Then due to it's usage on American reality show So You Think You Can Dance, it caught Christina's attention and she was quickly brought in to re-record it and release it as a single. Unlike the original the song became a success hitting #4 in the USA and matching it's peak on the UK charts and topping the charts in Australia, Belgium and Canada, and top 5 peaks in New Zealand, Austria, Sweden and Isreal, then top 10 peaks in Ireland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Norway and Slovakia.

28. Just A Fool (Ft Blake Shelton)

Avg: 5.775

Highest Rates: 10 (Liam, gooddelta)

Lowest Rates: 1 (SceneofSIXCrimes, darkstar 79)

At #28 is "Just A Fool" released in December 2012 as the second and final single from her "Lotus" album and featuring US Country singer Blake Shelton, and taking a much different direction from her usual sound, Christina explores country music for the first time in her career and despite a positive reception the song failed to make much impact peaking at #71 on the US Billboard Charts and cracking the top 40 in Canada at #37, The song didn't get a worldwide release, which is why it got a lot of non votes on this rate, and "Let There Be Love" was rumoured to being the 2nd international release, but nothing came of it, due to the failure of the previous single.

"Say Something" is very melancholic but it's beautiful too. I like the fact that she doesn't scream as a b*tch.
'Say Something' is gorgeous. It's not hard to see why it caught Christina's attention. One of the most beautifully written songs of this year, imo. 'Just A Fool' is very nice too, the less said about 'Feel the Moment' the better though. VOMIT.
I never got round to voting in this but Say Something and Feel This Moment so low, with the horrific Moves Like Jagger still in?

27. Express[

Avg: 5.826

Highest Rates: 8 (Regina, Mr Aly)

Lowest Rates: 1 Rob S)

At #27 is the first of Christina's soundtrack singles to feature in this countdown, released in December 2010 and taken from the soundtrack album "Burlesque" in which she also starred in alongside Cher. After the failure of her sixth album "Bionic", she decided to cancel the world tour in order to concentrate on her first acting role, she worked with Tricky Stewart on two tracks "Express" and "Show Me How You Burlesque" and the former got released first, and despite a much talked about performance on X Factor, the track only just about made a dent on the UK charts at #75, and not faring better in the USA at #102, along with appearances on charts in Australia, Japan and Swiss.

26. Show Me How You Burlesque

Avg: 5.857

Highest Rates: 8 (Regina)

Lowest Rates: 3 (SceneofSIXCrimes)

At #26 is the other "Burlesque" era single "Show Me How You Burlesque" and despite scoring less than "Express", this had a slightly higher average. Released in February 2011 as the 2nd and final single from the soundtrack and had a better performance on the US Billboard charts, peaking at #70, and performed much better worldwide charting best in New Zealand at #8, while making top 30 in Australia and Swiss, and also charting in Germany and Canada.

25. Tilt Ya Head Back (Ft Nelly)

Avg: 5.875

Highest Rates: 9 (Jonjo, Jark)

Lowest Rates: 0 (Nick F1)

At #25 is "Tilt Ya Head Back" featuring R&B singer Nelly and features on his 3rd double album "Sweat" and released in September 2004 and features a sample of Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly". The song was written by Nelly himself and was originally gonna feature Britney Spears, however her record company rejected the idea because it was deemed too urban, but Britney herself wanted to do it, then Janet Jackson was approached but she turned it down, then Christina was the final choice and stepped up. The track wasn't quite as successful in the USA peaking at only #58, but charted much better in the UK at #5, as well as top 10 peaks in New Zealand, Australia and Danish, as well as cracking top 20 in 4 other countries.

Just A Fool in the bottom three? It was her best single in years! (as in one which she lead as opposed to featured on!)

24. Woohoo (Ft Nicki Minaj)

Avg: 5.913

Highest Rates: 10 (Kellyann)

Lowest Rates: 0 (Michael)

At #24 is "Woohoo" featuring Nicki Minaj and taken as the 2nd radio single from her 6th album "Bionic" in May 2010 in the USA only and lyrically speaks about oral sex. The song became Christina's 15th entry on the US top 100 peaking at #79, while also charting in Canada and made a small dent in the UK due to digital downloads, no video was made for the song, which explains it's lack of success.

23. Tell Me (Ft P Diddy)

Avg: 5.958

Highest Rates: 9 (Jack, Hayzavy, Jark, Lukuzz)

Lowest Rates: 0 (Michael, Nick F1)

At #23 is "Tell Me" featuring US rapper P Diddy and taken as the 2nd single from his album "Press Play", released in November 2006. Originally the song was created as a demo track to test girl group Danity Kane, but P-Diddy decided to use Christina instead and became quite successful worldwide charting in the top 10 in Finland, Germany, Swiss, Ireland and UK, while charting in the top 20 in Australia, Belgium and Austria. Top 40 peaks in Denmark and Netherlands, then finally peaking in the top 50 in the USA at #47.

04. Christina Aguilera

Avg: 6.725

Highest Rates: 10 (Niall Minogue, gooddelta)

Lowest Rates: 3 (Michael)

At #4 in the album rate is Christina's self titled debut album, released in August 1999. Production started after she recorded the song "Reflection" for the Mulan soundtrack, and RCA started presenting tracks to her and a wide range of producers such as David Frank, Ron Fair, Guy Roche, Robin Thicke, Diane Warren, Matthew Wilder and Aaron Zigman. Upon release the album became a massive success debuting at #1 with first week sales of 253,000 copies and eventually sold over 9 million copies in the USA and sold 17 million worldwide. 4 singles were released from the album, 3 of them US #1's Genie In A Bottle, What A Girl Wants and Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You) as well as US top 3 hit I Turn To You. The album also earned her first Grammy award for Best New Artist. The album is a fun piece of 90's pop and the singles were fantastic, I even have a soft spot for the original album version of "Come On Over (All I Want Is You)", "GIB", "WAGW" and "ITTY" are of course highlights and other fave tracks are "Reflection" which is simply beautiful and shows her at her best, as well as "Love For All Seasons", "Love Will Find A Way" which is so catchy and "Obvious". The album only scored 2 10's on this rate which is a shame and nine other high rates, but quite a lot of average and low rates.
Tell Me and WooHoo are both such tunes, especially the latter <3 I still think Nicki's verse in it is one of her best actually!
