I have an intense rational hatred of Taylor Swift.

I guess I belong to the same group as I have never liked any of her songs with I Knew You Were Trouble being probably the only one I tolerated.

With all this talk of Prayer In C, is Maps not looking like a definitive #1 then?

It never was with both "Won't Look Back" and "Prayer In C" in the picture.

because Calvin has lots of fans who are 99% likely to like the song so they don't need to hear it before they know they're going to buy it. In the unlikely event they don't like it they can always cancel the pre-order before it goes on sale.

How do you cancel a pre-order?

I need to cancel my all about that bass pre-order as it is too far away and I don't want to waste money on something I will very likely have on a now album a couple of months later. Also I am running quite low on money on there

I actually don't want Maps to go to no.1 anyway. It would encourage Maroon 5 to stick with that sound when they're capable of MUCH more.

Top 15?! That would be disappointing, it's already Top 10 on airplay!

David Guetta looks like he will overtake Taylor Swift soon.

Maps should be an easy top 10, probably top 5

170. Maroon 5 Maps {Pre-Order}

I hope it missed the top 10 due to streaming tbh.

What a horrid song and it's rightfully flopping all over the world

Pfft! It hasn't flopped all over the world you fool. Do your research before you wildly claim things.

Calm your implants, it's done pretty bad for Maroon 5 standards.

It's not even top 10 in the US no more, only sold 500k in the US since it's release in June and hasn't touched the top 10 in any country, besides 10 of them.

This is in contrast with their other lead singles that did do well Makes Me Wonder, Moves Like Jagger and Payphone

Overuse of the world "flop" there don't you think though? It's still holding strong on US radio and only recently dropped out of top 10 in US after being there for just under 2 months. Not "Moves like Jagger" or "Payphone" standards but you can't have that same stonking success with every single. I'd say it will peak around #6 or #7 in our chart.

It Was Always You should be no.1 though...

I call it a flop for a massive band like them, just like ARTPOP was a flop for Gagz.

(It might be a slight overuse, but I wouldn't class it as a "moderate hit" either)

Looking at it objectively, I don't like the song but I don't think they've done too badly for themselves to make their reinvigorated success last after 'Moves Like Jagger' gave them a fluke comeback at a time when things were looking very dark indeed for them.

'It Was Always You' is a million times better than this though, and it still hugely bothers me that 'Daylight' flopped as it did here.

'Maps' is a shameless rip off of 'Every Breath You Take'.

Don't get me started on that :( , it was lucky in America as it moved 14-7 the week before YouTube streams were included in the chart, then spent the next 8 weeks between numbers 12 to 14 as its streaming wasn't quite high enough to keep it top 10 despite its monstrous airplay  "Maps", in my opinion, is somewhat underperforming in the USA given all the singles released from Overexposed went top 10 (just). Maps only debuted with 114k sold in its first week, which wasn't really that overwhelming; it's struggled for top 5 on the Hot 100 and is currently struggling for top 5 on Mainstream Top 40 - it's done okay on Adult Top 40 however. I don't think it will flop by any means in the UK on the other hand.

"It Was Always You"'s verses remind me of Chris Brown's "Crawl", the vocal pattern in them is near identical! (I do really like the song though, I hope it genuinely is single #2)

7. Ed Sheeran - Don't

10. Iggy Azalea - Black Widow (feat. Rita Ora)

11. Sam Smith - I'm Not the Only One

Nice to see some post-album singles actually denting the upper tier of the chart, especially as the latter two are relatively early into their proper airplay pushes :o

Calm Your Implants (!!) nu Silence, Slag?

Yeah I can 'Maps' entering at about #4? I'd much prefer if 'It Was Always You' was getting the success, though.

I'm in the minority who actually quite likes the song, but I agree it was kinda a flop WW if you look at it in the context of them being so huge over the last couple of years. But much as I like it, it's not really lead single material - it really should have been It Was Always You. Maps is very good imo, but nothing especially impressive, it really doesn't stand out or anything.
