It's quite telling that the best moment in the album is essentially a Bjork song with her singing on it.

Firstly Give Me All Your Luvin' was an awful lead single, she should have released I'm Addicted as the lead single, even Nicki Minaj and MIA's vocals don't help, it's an awful song.

Angel another one I'm glad is so low, just forgettable there were much better tracks on "LAV" like Pretender or Over and Over, it's okay but doesn't quite shine. "This Used To Be My Playground" is a nice ballad, but not one of my personal faves, but loved the movie "League Of Their Own" which was brilliant. "Love Profusion" again another terrible choice and should have been last or at least the bottom 5. Again there were better American Life tracks such as X-Static Process or Mother And Father, or even give Nothing Fails a UK release.

"Masterpiece" one of the only decent MDNA tracks, should have been given a full release. "American Pie" don't get all the hate, I loved it and still love it now, a fun and different take on a cover and like what she did with it. "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" was actually quite decent thought that it would have been higher and "Causing A Commotion" is another fine gem and much better than "The Look Of Love" which looks to be placed higher, quite shocking.

Causing A Commotion is good, nothing more really. Love love love the other three obviously as I gave them 10s, American Pie is a wonderful cover and Don't Cry For Me Argentina is gorgeous, really shows her voice!

Some great tracks have gone already, but none of them are absolutely huge losses for me, so far!

Let's get unconscious, honey

| 50 // Girl Gone Wild // MDNA // 6.67 (-1: jark, 0: triangles // 11: jakewild, regina)

| 51 // Oh Father // Like A Prayer // 6.60 (1: fgiboy // 10: dandy, johnkm, 9: liamk, haus, cassandra, liam, randomfurlong, sweetcandy)

| 52 // Bedtime Story // Bedtime Stories // 6.57 (3: triangles, fgiboy, mikemyers // 10: johnkm, cassandra, randomfurlong, leww)

One of the more unique songs off the album of (almost) same name,

is a wonderful trip into her mind. The entrancing instrumental, teamed with Madonna's repetitive and disturbing vocals make for one wild listen so it's easy to see why it attracts such high scores and still manages to fall quite short here. One of her bravest single choices for me, with so many layers, it's always an experience to listen to.

Next up and just missing out on the top 50 is

, a deeply personal song about Madonna's relationship with the men in her life up to that point. Empowering and heartbreaking in equal measure, the song came with a stunning David Fincher directed music video with heaps of iconic moments, exploring Madonna trying to overcome the death of her mother; it all makes for one of her very best visual outputs. It's also rare that such a personal song can speak such universal volumes but this song manages to do so effortlessly.

And from the deeply personal, to the deeply... wild  I go in stages of love and sheer cringe at

but i think i'm set firmly in the love camp for now, because for what it is, it is a bit of a jam. She's not sorry at all as she lets it all out in hot-mess style. The second single taken from the album, but sadly wasn't enough to ignite interest in the campaign and ultimately fell on deaf-ears.

Taken from the movie, 'With Honors' and coming off the back of the 'Erotica' era,

was a return to a more subdued and warm sound. Nominated for a Grammy and Golden Globe, becoming quite the commercial single, and a daring video to go along with it, it's a near perfect little package.

Rich, you always have the best covers/remixes to hand so i'll check that one out when I get home. Also, to all, post any favourite remixes/live performances of the songs too as we go as I'm sure we'd all appreciate some twists on the classics :D

Hope you find some enjoyment in it, although the main radio version seems to have the sound blocked on Youtube :(

Still no major losses for me! American Pie is ok, the only Madonna single my sister ever bought curiously (seeing as, like John said, it's not exactly highly regarded)

Not too bothered about most of the tracks down the lower end so far. I'm happy 'Give Me All Your Lovin' is out. Dreadful song!

'Hung Up' or 'Frozen' to win please! :D

Oh Father is stunning, what a vocal performance <3 what I said about Turn Up The Radio goes for Girls Gone Wild really - it's a good fun pop song. I can see why it's not highly regarded though at least!

I too have a bit of a love/hate relationship with 'Girl Gone Wild'. I think what lets it down is the chorus, just falls quite flat after the verses build up to something a bit more bolder. Gutted 'Oh Father' is out. :( One of Madonna's most touching and personal records, and the emotion is intensified when watching the video.

Not that fussed about 'I'll Remember' and I don't really "get" 'Bedtime Story'. The music is quite pleasant, slightly Ray of Light era, but I think I'd rather the lyrics being properly sung rather than that kind of rhythmic whispering, although that would probably ruin what the song is, which is why I don't think I "get" it.

No casualties for me so far :D

Girl Gone Wild is the worst song of her entire career. Worse than Bday Song. Worse than Hey You. Worse than Revolver. Worse than cancer.

It must be the tanqueray indeed.

Let's try and keep the hyperbole to STUN at most please dear. It's hardly the WORST song of her entire career, it's hardly ground breaking and probably would detract from her legacy if people knew it existed, BUT it's still a decent enough song. It's not an utter abomination like Incredible or B'Day Song.

But then I also think Hey You gets an unfair ride too. It's a solid 7/10.

Incredible is leagues ahead. I'm bowing out now before you make me even angrier.
Good, because I would have no option but to remind you that the production is awful, lyrically it's about 30 years too young for her and it basically has NO HOOK(S) and the whole thing just comes off sounding entirely NASTY.

Will you let yourself go wild

| 45 // American Life // American Life // 6.96 (1: mikemyers, 2: gavindeejay // 10: regina, liam, cassandra, oliver, fgiboy, sweetcandy, casey)

| 46 // Erotica // Erotica // 6.96 (-1: pippa, 3: robswift, gavindeejay // 11: titty, 10: luciano, leww, sweetcandy)

| 47 // Deeper and Deeper // Erotica // 6.91 (0: jakewild, 1: gavindeejay // 10: regina, johnkm, dandy, sweetcandy)

| 48 // Take A Bow // Bedtime Stories // 6.85 (2: oliver, jonjo, 3: omie // 11: simon, mikemyers, 10: jay, cassandra)

As we edge closer to the top 40 it's another set of mid-classics and a heap of controversy. But away from the drama, comes the beautifully delicate

the closing number from 'Bedtime Stories'. I am a sucker for track-listings and ordering in albums, so this ending the album the way it does makes for the perfect close to the preceding tales that have been told. Madonna's 11th number one in the US and an all round poetic masterpiece, it's deceptively simple but just leaves you wanting more. An exotic video too, which bagged her a VMA for best female video. She has apparently never performed the song on tour, despite it seeming the perfect song for the stage.

A double team of the erotic next, with the second and first singles off the album (leaving only one more off it to come) in

and
. Both singles are twisted (in the best possible ways) and show off a rebellious Madonna shunning all the rule books and showing her prowess. 'Deeper and Deeper' with it's nostalgic 80s(?) tones still sounds oddly timeless. An arty video, paying homage to Andy Warhol and the song itself also pays homage to one of her own, as its takes a twist on 'Vogue' in its closing moments. The debut single off the album really shows what it's all about. Controversial and sexual, the song is wildly provocative and the accompanying video follows through on its message, with Madonna at her most revealing. She's had a tonne of shocking moments in the decades she's been in top, but it's no wonder she kept coming back, as it just shows that when the music is this fluid, the shock tactics are a mere second to the sounds.

And controversial again but for completely different reasons, this time Madonna took her focus to the world around her and more specifically the political system of the US. 'American Life' had a short-lived life in America as it was almost universally depreciated by critics and apparently the public too, as it limped in at #37 on the Hot 100. The lead single off an album that is both personal to her at times, but also far reaching and global, it seems to have divided opinions here also as it slots in fairly low (at least low for the lead single off one of her biggest albums). Madge turning up the heat in a rap towards the closing of the song is always a moment, and placed next to a heap of expletives and preaching, it's perhaps her most abrasive song AND video.

Theres something about 'American Life' it's weird  but I like it alot!

Take A Bow is CRIMINALLY low

Really not a fan of the Bedtime Stories or Erotica eras, so 4/5 of those aren't a loss to me. American Life is definitely about 30 places too low though, if not more.
