Amazing episode though! Pretty much gripped from start to finish, no filler scenes or anything. I love how there were so many twists and turns all the way through, I was worried that by like ten past 8 it'd be so obvious who'd die but right to the end who I thought it was changed about 10 times  If it wasn't Ronnie it probably wouldn't have been so emotional, with her backstory and the fact they had to save her baby! Brilliant episode, I agree one of the best I've ever seen. I think the last time I was that gripped was the live episode for the 25th anniversary.

I think

Emma will die in about a week, I read on DS she's credited up to the 9th so maybe she's in hospital for a while. But it's ridiculous that nobody checked if she was ok before Pam and Les did! She's just sat there on the pavement having obviously been ran over. But then again, I imagine there was just so much tension and panic over the crash she could have gone unnoticed.

Emma and everyone around her absolutely infuriated me. Don't care how much she's obsessing over the murder, no excuse not to go to the doctor when you get run over AND hit your head as a result. Dreadfully sad that she'll inevitably die!

I don't see how Emma could stay alive unless she suffers severe memory loss (and as a result, forgetting she had the encounter with the killer so it's not revealed until February) from the accident.

You can see from that episode she wasn't going to make it, especially with a head wound, and than the bleeding from the ear at the end, I think she would have passed out in the car, just got to see if Max takes her to the hospital or not tomorrow.

So after tonight's episode the person who had the honour of killing Lucy Beale is one of the following:

Ian Beale (would be the greatest moment in EastEnders history if it's him)

Jane Beale

Little Cindy Beale

Pam Cocker

Les Cocker

Max Branning

Denise

Jay

Ben Mitchell

Lauren Branning

Abi Branning

Peter Beale

Lee Carter

Whitney Dean

I'd be surprised if the killer wasn't part of the Branning or Beale family. I don't know why Pam and Les are being presented as culprits, it would just be ridiculous if it was one of them.

That was such a tense and emotional episode! So fast paced and back to the EastEnders we all know and love.

The only thing that frustrates me, is how Emma and no one around her thought to send her straight to hospital after being run over. Just because she was visibly fine, doesn't mean she didn't have internal injuries. I'm fairly sure she'll be dead in tomorrow's episode.

Queen Ronnie somehow managing to die, give birth and then come back to life though! :drama: I genuinely thought they were gonna kill her off for a moment and I was ready to have a breakdown, but fortunately they didn't.

I think we can rule out Max and Abi from Emma's comment personally. I'm a bit confused by what she said in the car, but it sounded to me like she was telling Max it wasn't Abi who killed Lucy.

And then Denise / Kim with the domestic abuse storyline! :o Didn't see that coming at all. Kim worked so well today with the storyline and discovering the extent of Denise's problems.

Exactly. Also, they're not going to waste what is probably going to be one of the biggest moments of the soap ever on characters like Les/Pam (and Lee for that matter to be honest) I think Cindy could be classed under that umbrella too but at least she's part of the Beales. I'm really thinking Jane now. Of course she's not the most iconic character ever, but she's established and obviously properly connected to the Beales.

Precisely! :P I did think it was Cindy for a while but then I remembered that in the episode following Lucy's death, Cindy text her asking where she was, which she obviously wouldn't do if she had killed her! I'm definitely set on Jane for now - I thought during the suspects' mobiles ringing scenes, Jane's was most convincing that it could be her being rung.

An article on The Mirror noted that there were references to many previous storylines/events in tonight's episode:

Emma getting run over - similar to the deaths of Tiffany, Jamie and Danielle

Nick cutting the breaks - this is how he ended up killing his other son Ashley

Phil drowning Nick in the sink - similar to him doing this Ian in the toilets

Ronnie almost losing her child - obvious

Suspects and their phones ringing - many whodunnits in EE have used this or similar tactics

I don't know why Pam and Les are being presented as culprits, it would just be ridiculous if it was one of them.

I can't see it been them actually, they were fairly new characters when Lucy was killed off. And I probably rule out Ben, I don't think he will go down a second time.

And I don't know how long Nick is in the show for, I would chuck him into the mix as well. As it seems he could be on the way out, mind you his mobile didn't go off. I guess they haven't filmed the February scenes yet, as they probably do them nearer the time to avoid leaks.

Emma dying was always fairly obvious.

They made her incredibly unlikeable in her final episodes and the reveal is not for another month.

I reckon Charlie and Dot will hand Nick into the police when they discover what he did.

Stunning episode. The death will happen later (I think we all know the outcome there) but will be spurred from this episode.

Ironically I love that Emma, the most duff detective in history, lives up to her reputation and will not get checked out despite being knocked over and having a head wound. I mean, really.

MY EMOTIONS.

That will honestly go down as one of the most incredible episodes of Eastenders of all time. I mean, it just had everything. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster. I NEVER cry at tv shows/soaps and I was sat there in tears.

I think it was either Abi or Lauren now as Emma assumed Max must have known who murdered Lucy.

A theory from DS

My theory is abi asked lucy to meet her to confront her about sleeping with max, things got heated and abi lashed out, she's rung jay panicking so Jay helped abi move the body, then went to meet Ben and explained what happened so Ben had the idea of taking her stuff so she had nothing to identify her and to make it look like she was mugged, when abi shouted at max about sleeping with lucy she then explained everything what happened and that it was his fault blah blah blah and that's why they have this "secret" and are each other's alibis, also abi knows the password to Lauren's laptop cause she used it to revise and she knew about the jewellery box

Sounds plausible :o

It surely has to be one of the Branning's or Beale's - I mean, why would she have anyone else's number on her phone?
