I'm not totally sure Band Aid 30 is guaranteed to be a massive #1 after what happened to 'God Only Knows'...

I'd actually love for Ed Sheeran to do the John Lewis song. He might even get his third EVER #1 (that joke will never get old).

The publicity and hype behind a possible Band Aid 30 would be greater than God Only Knows.

When does the John Lewis song premiere? Ed doing it would be great; I can't get sick of him although I don't think it'll be him.

I didn't realise next week was such a huge week for albums -- could Cheryl only debut at 4? :o

It usually premieres this saturday and is released on midnight after it!
Oh, surely there should already be confirmed news of an artist and title, then? When was Lily and her cover of Somewhere Only We Know confirmed?

I'm sure it would but I don't know if it would be big enough to deny the XF winner the #1.

There's also that charity cover of 'Say Something' coming out (which again I'm not sure is going to be that massive but will probably be at least top 10). Lots of covers in the Christmas top 10 it seems.

RE John Lewis Xmas Song - I dont think they confirm it until the last minute. Last year the song was put on utube on the friday before it was premiered during the following nights XF!

If they're following the same schedule as last year we should get the John Lewis announcement later this week and the song should be released next week. If it really is Ed Sheeran then he may replicate Dizzee Rascal's two #1s in 3 weeks from 2010.

Plus they usually release Band Aid in the first week of December and in 2004 CDs sold enough for it to sustain its sales through to xmas week whereas with downloads it might be different?!

Last year they premiered it on Friday 7th on YouTube and it received its first TV play during The X Factor on Saturday 8th. There wasn't any confirmation before of the song or artist as far as I can remember.

At any rate if it is Ed it will surely storm to No1 due to the artist and stay in the top 5 until the end of december. If its an artist that isnt as high profile it might not do as well - it all depends on the song though as with the success of the unknown Gab Aplin in 2012 with the Power of Love

Hopefully it's Leona (who has been rumoured). Hopefully it's 'Your Hallelujah' that's used. Would be perfect on a new animated style advert!

Supposedly a teaser for the advert, which will premiere during Gogglebox on Friday.

Isn't it too late for Band Aid now? To get all the acts they want to record parts of a song, produce it, make physical copies etc etc? Seems like they are leaving themselves a lot to do in a month

Doubt it takes that long to do. All Bob Geldof done for the original was tell the artists he's recording it on this date and whoever turned up got a feature on the record, whoever didn't turn up didn't. Im not sure how he organised the 2004 one.

Combined update:

1. Cheryl - I Don't Care : 1.0000

2. Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud : 0.6329 (+0.0072)

I still can't believe A Million Lights sold 100k overall.

I think it's her only good album, yet the other two sold 1m and 500k. Grrr.

Hopefully Only Human is both good, and performs well.
