When they pull off as sneaky a strategy as putting up a pre-order for a less popular version of one of their songs perhaps :heehee: I really can't see why Cheryl's label would put the pre-order for the clean version apart from trying to trick people into buying it twice when they otherwise wouldn't have done so (of course the loons would do that anyway but still). The whole swearing in the chorus thing always seemed like a bit of a cynical ploy for attention in itself, no better than something like 'Loca People'. It sounds extremely out of place but it grabs the ear and gets people talking about what is in every other regard an extremely uninteresting song ~

*waits for Joseph rebuttal* (I will pre-emptively say the above is not ENTIRELY serious, though there is a bit of truth in it ~)

wow that GIF convinced me Adam, Cheryl is actually just a musical genius and so popular that she can get the same song in the top 3 twice just off its quality, I take back everything

Its the exact truth for me. Loons let the love of a person/artists get in the way of being able to critically analyse a song! (awaits rebuttal)

Isn't it too late for Band Aid now? To get all the acts they want to record parts of a song, produce it, make physical copies etc etc? Seems like they are leaving themselves a lot to do in a month

Doubt it takes that long to do. All Bob Geldof done for the original was tell the artists he's recording it on this date and whoever turned up got a feature on the record, whoever didn't turn up didn't. Im not sure how he organised the 2004 one.

I don't think anyone else commented on this. The 1984 version wasn't recorded until 25th November and was released 4 days later. The 1989 version was very spur of the moment, with the idea occurring on 1st December, the recording taking place on 3rd Dec & released on 11th Dec. Band Aid 20 was recorded relatively earlier (14th November 2004) and was released on 29th November.

So if Band Aid 30 is being thought about now, there's definitely enough time for it to happen! :D

So glad for Calvin. He lost the battle of this week album chart but he is number 4 on iTunes with Outside. Another big hit for him...

Ooh I thought 'Outside' had stalled in the low top 20, I see it has sneaked up to the top 5. I hope it's a grower as I'm not really a big fan of it based on a couple of listens but always good to see Calvin and Ellie doing well anyway.

That's really encouraging for The Veronicas, so hope they can achieve that top 10!

That 'Wake Me Up' cover (at least on paper) sounds like potential aural torture.

yay Outside. Another big post-album smash for Ellievin :D

Motion has a few more hits in the waiting - Faith, Pray to God and Together could all do well as future singles (possibly Dollar Signs too if Calvin milks this era like he did 18 Months)

So have they scrapped God Only Knows as the "Official" CIN single? Or was it never "Official" in the first place.
I don't think 'God Only Knows' was ever the official CIN single to be fair, it was a single to promote 'BBC Music' that also raised funds for CIN.
Aren't you the brother of Eric_blob by accident?

Seriously we had some threads that stretched to 50-51 pages for only a week but I can't remember which artist released that week. The Saturdays must be the last one I think.

I believe that was when 'Applause' and 'Roar' were released, some of that thread was quite the chore!

Also, yay for the Calvin/Ellie track taking off, definitely one of the highlights after a listen on Spotify!

They were released on different weeks in the UK :P

The release week of 'Love Me Again' must have been pretty long what with the iconic Newman looning (although that was quite frontloaded IIRC).
