The iTunes popularity formula thing is weighted towards more recent sales I think.

I know that there is a weighting towards more recent sales, I'm just surprised that it has had such a marked effect so early on, if indeed this is the reason for the decline.

OK hope so, because I was worried it was like gooddelta said, that the people who pre-ordered it didn't get the pre-order.

Is there anyone on here that pre-ordered You Ruin Me who can confirm, I'm at a loss as to what happened to the pre-orders tbh. Either they weren't counted in the feed for some reason, or the pre-orders for some reason didn't work and people had to download it normally.

 

I purchased it the day it briefly went on sale in September so I can't verify what happened.

 

I know it's no huge issue and I'm sure if it was the latter people will eventually remember to buy it, it just cost them a few hours of 'top ten effect'!

On a separate Veronicas-related note though, I currently owe my life to Heart FM (something I never thought I'd say). Three cheers to them for unexpectedly supporting You Ruin Me and getting this stunning act another deserved hit :wub: I can only assume it would be about 500 places lower at this point without their constant rotation of it.

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing, but like you I also purchased it when it was originally released.

 

I'd say that the pre-orders just took a few updates to be added, but then pre-orders have never been added that way before. But at the same time I find it difficult to believe that 'You Ruin Me' would've climbed as quickly as it did today without any pre-order help considering Christina Perri's iTunes chart progress earlier this year in a very similar situation with Heart airplay and solid pre-orders.
