Biography

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are an English rock band formed in 2011 as the solo moniker of former Oasis lead guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher. The band consists of former Oasis session pianist Mike Rowe, drummer Jeremy Stacey of The Lemon Trees, The Zutons bassist Russell Pritchard and guitarist Tim Smith. The band also has a variety of guests on their debut album such as the Crouch End Festival Chorus and The Wired Strings.

Since his departure from Oasis in August 2009, many speculated that Gallagher might record a solo album. In July 2011, he held a press conference to confirm that this was the case, after denying rumours from his brother Liam Gallagher that he had already heard the tracks featured on it. He also explained that he would be collaborating with Amorphous Androgynous for a second album that was due for release in 2012.

The singles for Gallagher's debut album are "The Death of You and Me", "If I Had a Gun...", "AKA... What a Life!", ""Dream On"" and "Everybody's on the Run". AKA... What a Life! made its debut on a Vauxhall television advertisement.

Gallagher announced that he will begin touring a week after the album is released. He stated, "We're going to go out on tour a week after the album is out. We're going to start off slow in small theatres. If it's good enough to get bigger than that then it'll get bigger than that. I don't think there'll be a huge great big tour this year. I think this year it'll be a quick whizz around the world and try and do the major cities and then it will probably be a bigger tour next year."

Gallagher explained in an interview with Jonathan Ross on The Jonathan Ross Show that the inspiration for the band's name was from two sources. The idea to prefix the name with "Noel Gallagher's" was formed whilst washing up dishes listening to the album Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, while the latter part of the name is taken from the song "High Flying Bird" by Jefferson Airplane. - Wikipedia

Amazed at how high this has charted, only a little lower than the lead from their first album (so possibly actually higher on sales alone). Noel eternally relevant it seems!

This is a pretty good song, less of an Oasis clone than I expected.

Great to hear some Noël Gallagher in the chart though 26 is lower than I thought he's be! Something other than radio 1 playlist material is nice at last tho!

Well its fantastic to finally hear something new!

However I'm really not all that keen on this track. A bit of a step backwards for them from their first album.

Surprised Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds weren't pushed down more by streaming!
Really liked the first High Flying Birds album. Not sure on this track yet but happy to see it in the top 40. ^_^
Not bad at all, I still prefer his previous material from his first studio album

I though Noël had more features in his chart history before the High flying Birds!?

Hopefully the Music week will give some sales updates on Oasis and Noel Gallagher's previous stuff tomorrow.
Brilliant to see a guitar legend retain relevance even in the streaming age! This is pretty decent, AKA What a Life was a brilliant moment for him/the group.

Biography

Australian rock band 5 Seconds to Summer make ebullient, high-energy music that straddles the line between '90s punk-pop and 1000s boy-band pop. Formed in 2011, the band features fellow Norwest Christian College grads Luke Hemmings (lead vocals/guitar), Michael Clifford (guitar/vocals), Calum Hood (bass/vocals), and Ashton Irwin (drums/vocals). The band uploaded several videos to Youtube and quickly caught the attention of Sony, who signed the band to a publishing deal. In 2012, 5 Seconds to Summer released two EPs including Unplugged and Somewhere New. The following year, the band received a further boost after they were asked to open for Britain's One Direction on tour. That same year they signed a record deal with Capitol, and in 2014, 5 Seconds to Summer released their third EP, She Looks So Perfect. - iTunes

Album Discussion Here

Good Girls  Shame it's so low but was expected, especially on such a busy week.

He wasn't credited with the Chemical Brothers.

5 Seconds of Summer missing out on top 20. :o
I'm glad this has re-entered! Really catchy upbeat track and so much better than the dreadful Amnesia.

I hope the NOW tracks will be all album only again as they were last time for the release week.
