Love Melanie’s fringe. She’s got a big forehead so it’s legit.

Also - I think it was good to re-introduce themselves as people and not characters. They all looked fab minus Geri flower dress. All 5 were beautiful.

The product description on the Rough Trade site matches the exact text from the 2020 release, so it might just be a case of Rough Trade accidentally attaching the CD/digital artwork on the product pag

Anything to give it exposure would be good, with so many greatest hits now in the top 100 for years on end it would be nice to see the this been another one. Anyone know if this is far off triple plat

'Greatest Hits' was released in the UK on Monday 12th November 2007. 15 years ago today!

I often say it but these anniversaries freak me out a bit, how long ago it's all becoming. I remember that pre-2007, a hot topic for Spice Girls fans was when or if they'd ever release a Greatest Hits album. The seemingly endless wait for them to ever reunite. It kind of felt like neither would ever happen. All of a sudden it's 15 years since they first reunited and released the Greatest Hits. :o And that the GH was "only" 10 years after Spiceworld, 11 years after Spice.

It reached #2 in the UK (Leona Lewis - Spirit entered at #1). It went on to certify double platinum and has sold over 700,000 in the UK.

15 years bloody hell im getting old , never liked the artwork and I loved if they added Step To Me too but I was so glad they reunited

So glad that reunion happened because it was the time that brought them together as friends again (if not as music collaborators, sadly...)

I love the cover and it hindsight it was a clever move for a GH, as it is quite timeless (and it avoided having that awful blong hair from Victoria or Geri's curls of the time lol...)

They would do well to do another one at some point, with Step To Me added and some others? Remove Voodoo from the next one, no-one needs it, and bring in some other unheard tracks.

I'm so glad they released that Greatest Hits when they did. Its went on to be a consistent seller and that will carry on until it tops a million in the UK.
Would be great to know how it is doing sales wise to be honest, both in the UK and worldwide...

Each time I see anything about the GH album, I am reminded that there are even unreleased tracks from THIS project. Yet, I always forget about them; I think that's because the two new ones we got on the GH were just "ok", and the group wasn't exactly united musically at the time. I'd still be curious to hear them though.

I think the live version of Headlines is superior to the album version, and I think VooDoo had potential to be much better than it was. If they ever record new music again, I hope it's mainly mid- to high-tempo tracks that get people grooving and moving. I think their biggest missed branding opportunity with the GH was to release NGUOTGT as a single and name the tour after it. There's probably also a studio remix of the live version of this track from Wembley in 1998 just like there's an equivalent for SYBT, which they mostly performed the SW remix of when they were live in concert.

It did take me aback to see the GH is 15 years old. I accept the anniversaries of Spice ect are a long time ago as I was a child but I was an adult technically for the GH so it being so long ago is scary.

I remember how at the time EVERYONE (bar 1 or 2 sane people) hated the cover and moaned endlessly that it wasn't a pic of them. Thank god it wasn't as aside from Mel C they weren't all looking their best and it would have aged like milk. Does make you think that some of the decisions now may well be seen in the long term. Like having never had a clips video officially it was probably a very smart move to get one out to NGUOTGT for years to come.

The tracklist is exactly as I would have picked tbh. You could argue Step to me could be on it but tbh it gave SW25 something we all wanted.

I'd personally love to see a slip cover made for the GH to jazz it up (same cover just 5 versions with a union jack version, pink version, leopard print version ect) I would buy all 5 in a heart beat.

I cant wait for the day it goes 3 times plat then a million seller, it truly deserves it.

My favourite memory regarding DenDen discussions about the GH artwork - some people were convinced that you could actually see the girls in the letters  I’m sure someone said the E was one of the girls in a bikini 😭 I wish I could look back on those threads. Some of them were so wild!

OK so personally, I would have much rather have Step To Me on the Greatest Hits album than tucked away at the lame 2CD of the Spiceworld25... And probably that would have meant another unreleased track instead of Step To Me (whcih we all appreciated having this year precisely because it was never available before outside of the Pepsi promotion).

For the Greatest Hits, I would have included the Morales version of Never Give Up On The Good Times as a bonus track (like the ones for the digital releases) and yes that to have a montage video as just a promo/buzz single. Then, I would have included a couple more uptempo tracks rather than Voodoo and not release Headlines as a single (it was a bit lame back then...)

If they do a new Greatest Hits (LOL), I hope they don't do a chronological order again, and instead treat it like a set list! Here's what that could have looked like:

A Never Give Up On The Good Times remix should have been the greatest hits single. It probably would have went top 5. It would have added another legitimate hit single to their legacy. Instead we got Headlines, which no one remembers or cares for.

People would have torn them apart had they just released an old track back in 2007. Fans wanted something new and that's what they got. The reception to that something new wasn't in their hands. Both those tracks sit well alongside the others. Holler is really the only stand out "different feel" song on the Greatest Hits.

Which is why they should have always released a new track first, but then a remix of Never Give Up sounds absolutely perfect for a cute promo single during that era!

Just wish the new tracks weren't a blatant attempt to recreate, cheaply and bashfully, the old 90s sound which was a huge mistake in my opinion, as it just didn't work did it?...

In hindsight it's too bad Biff didn't repurpose some of the tracks he did with Victoria for the greatest hits. Imagine if we would have got some of these on the greatest hits.

Hustler

Flow

Give It All Away

Be With You

Bittersweet

Should've Known Better

All of these tracks are great. They feel mature and "cool" compared to Headlines and Voodoo.

Has the Greatest Hits reached 800,000 UK sales yet?

No the last official total we had for it was 696,128 on 31st December 2021. I would imagine over 720,000 by now? But we’re probably talking another 2 years before it reaches 800,000. Unless they do a reunion in 2023 and the weekly sales pick up a lot.

A post from the future? :heehee:
