Midweek #31 today... that's 10 places lower than SOTU was in its Wednesday midweek, 9 places lower than WWTNS.

I'm thinking Top 50 is the best we can expect from Chemistry come Friday.

Not too fussed as I assume it’ll end up with similar sales to the first two.

I wonder how Tangled Up and Out of Control will fair when we eventually get them. If we have to wait for 2027 and 2028, who knows what the threshold for the Top 40 will be or even what new chart rules might apply. Might they get higher sales for being originally more successful albums? I suppose they could release two vinyl for Tangled Up - one with the original purple cover and one with the fan version cover with all five girls on it.

Is there girlgroups already who score top 10 in three straight decades?

Yes Supremes achieved #1 albums in 60s and 70s and then top 10 in 80s.

I'm just keeping everything crossed that Music Week will give an updated total like they did with the previous two albums - I'll be so annoyed if they don't!

I hope we're not having to wait until the 20th anniversaries of those two. I've yearned for Tangled Up on vinyl for a long time, I don't want them to hold out on it for another 2 years! cry

I know, hope they just release Tangled Up next year and OOC the year after. Even if it’s 19 years instead of 20 technically

How many units have been for a no. 10?

I feel sorry but streams and amazon are their possible weakness on the charts. I hope that can counce back for Christmas album if possible.

Yes same! Last known total was 394,868 as of w/e 8th August 2019. Sales should have passed 400k by now - the average weekly sales of 'Sound of the Underground' between the sales update in August 2019 and the week prior to its re-issue was 29 chart units, so I imagine 'Chemistry' could be managing the same. That would bring its total to 404k as of last week and potentially 407k if the re-issue sells 2.9k again.

My sales estimates for 'Sound of the Underground' is 384.3k (29 chart units per week) and 'What Will the Neighbours Say?' is 623.8k (44 chart units per week).

Random fact but all three Girls Aloud reissues were released the same week as a Minogue sister release! ('Neon Nights' reissue for 'SOTU', 'Body Language' reissue for 'WWTNS' and 'Tension Live' for 'Chemistry')

Nice minogue fact related.

Hopefully a sales update for the album today but if its not top 40 they might not give an update.

Blimey that’s lower than I’d have imagined! Must have sold barely anything these last few days.

It did 2,488 units this week.

Tut, I had a feeling that Music Week wouldn't give total sales this time... that's annoying. The most likely occasion we'd get a new total for it and we don't cry

So that's 437 copies less than the 2,925 that What Will the Neighbours Say needed for #35 and Sound of the Underground for #42. Also, 85.06% of what they sold. A shame to see a slight dip in interest.

Theres a breakdown on this:

#71 overall
#8 Scotland
#10 Sales
#70 downloads
#8 vinyl
#9 physical

It appears that streaming is their major weakness and second, it falls to a most stacked week for this year. It doesn't mean they had weak material. They can bounce back on Xmas release which has wide open since XMas charts will focus on singles.

That is a shame. I guess Neighbours might have had a boost from the tour announcement and would have otherwise seen a decline?

I guess 2.5k sales for a #11 charting album isn’t that bad in the grand scheme of things. There’s been many cases of big selling albums not managing as much with their reissues.

It actually fell to a most stacked charting week of the year. No. 10 is 7500 plus sales plus avoiding Showgirl album date

Least it was similar sales to the last 2 reissues. Wonder if Tangled Up and OOC would do more as they seemed to be when they were most popular
