TERRIBLE SONGS UP FIRST

they are in no particular order as terrible is terrible. there won't be any of the MoR artists here like Ed Sheeran and his ilk as they are just inoffensive and spike no strong opinions in me. it takes a special something for a song to actively bring a strong dislike as opposed to a general state of apathy. There will be a number of these but they will stop eventually and i will crack on to the decent stuff.

JESSIE J FEAT. ARIANA GRANDE AND SERIOUS MUSCIAN (SOMETIMES) NICKI MINAJ 'BANG BANG'

http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lr0qdhqXHY1r16qnqo1_400.jpg

jessie j - or the face of bo with dawn french superimposed on it

jessie j has been a well known terrible artisté from the second single of her debut onwards. a remarkable woman, former bisexual and born again christian who appears to have the self-awareness of a guinea fowl and a belief that all songs must be oversung to make you a good artist. if she isn't releasing another self-help monologue she's making ill-judged comments about the disabled, or making trite superfluous soundbites on her twitter for all and sundry to be inspired by and helping approximately nobody other than the most self-loathing and tone deaf of internet gays.

so on to 'bang bang' on title alone awful but the truly abhorrent qualities don't stop there, the whole concept for a start, two singers in jessie and ariana who are totally mismatched and attempt to out shriek one and other with a subfar feature from nicki, quite what the pairing was supposed to achieve i'm not sure as the lyrics play out like a solo track but have big name features to evidently help the song sell which it did in the USA. The whole song is downright sludgy and feels like a track kept on the cutting room floor from ariana's 'my everything' with crass lyrics such as 'bang bang into the room / bang bang all over you" that seem to have little meaning to them. It's a cynical attempt at a flash in the pan hit and feels like a track which had the input of about 20 songwriters with the voice of none. Add to that her ludicrous, remarks about america appreciation (with a lot of short-sightedness as is normal for Jess) and you have all round stinker. Time will only tell what horrors jessie will inflict upon us for 2015.

I leave you with some of Jessie's words of wisdom care of twitter:

"Trust me life is not worth living feeling sad, and down, and lonely. Always be true to who you are"

"Do good. Inspire. Set an example to yourself and others. Have faith. Make your actions loud. Have fun. Be nice. Love strong"

and my personal favourite:

"Being bullied means you're special and that'w what I want all kids to know"

Truly the dalai lama of pop music.

I think I'm going to really enjoy reading this thread if that spot on Bang Bang commentary is anything to go by, so I shall be keeping an eye on this ^_ (plus I sense there'll be a lot of good tunes as well etc.)
