Thank you to the 78 people who took the time to vote, once again growth year on year! Get Lucky's winning score of 5260 points last year has been THRASHED. And some poor sod has finished in negative figures

Please do not post spoilers in the thread. A lot of work by members goes into producing these countdowns so let's not spoil them please peeps.
Lol I don't think m/any people gave Gareth Malone positive points so I think it's fairly obvious they'll be the ones with negative points.

Nah, probably It's My Birthday :P

I wish :( It was in negative points for a time before it found fans

37th • Gareth Malone's All Star Choir - Wake Me Up • -60 points

36th • Band Aid 30 - Do They Know It's Christmas? • 90 points

Featuring icons such as Craig from Strictly and Masood from EastEnders, the all star choir raising money for Children In Need come last with their cover of Avicii's "Wake Me Up". TWELVE people awarded it -10 and only two gave it any positive points so here we have it below 0. Personally I think it's actually quite sweet and would choose to listen to it over a few #1s from last year but it's not a surprising last place.

Just above it is another charity single featuring a range of famous faces, this time another version of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" put together to raise money to help fight Ebola. Again unsurprising that people wouldn't rank it as a highlight when looking back at the #1s of 2014, I love the song but prefer Band Aid 20 myself. Neither of these songs went on to have long-term success although Band Aid 30 does hold the record for the fastest selling #1 of the year after an absolutely mammoth first day.

Next up we'll take a look at six songs that scored more than 100 points but less than 1000.

We find the Christmas #1 in 35th, the winning single from The X Factor, a cover of OneRepublic's "Something I Need" by Ben Haenow. He doesn't feel like an overly popular winner on here (at least not when the other option was Fleur) and he picked up -10 from three people. I watched almost none of the show this year but I really really like this single, it feels quite uplifting and perhaps not being familiar with the original beforehand helps.

100 points ahead is Aloe Blacc with "The Man", which samples "Your Song" by Elton John. I was a fan of this when it was originally released but it's grown tiring and I don't know about everyone else but it does feel very forgettable in amongst all the other #1s. Still, I'd take this over the atrocious "I Need a Dollar" anyday.

Another 'meh' song is next in the form of "Lovers On The Sun" by David Guetta. A far cry from the Nothing But The Beat era where Guetta was really rather good. Though it does appear that a good number prefer the follow-up single "Dangerous" (hence why it appears on the End of Year Multichart whilst this doesn't *plug plug*).

Beating David/Sam by 30 points is will.i.am with "It's My Birthday", my own personal least favourite #1 of the year. This achieved FOURTEEN -10s, even more hated than "Wake Me Up". Completely unlistenable to my ears, although it might sound a tad better tomorrow. :P :kink: Shame will.i.am has to produce such rubbish music sometimes as I really enjoy him as a person.

The final track before the top 30 is "Tsunami (Jump)", a BJSC entry that everyone was after in the pre-Tinie form. Not a massive long-running #1 and not one I'd listen to out of choice either although this countdown features a few worse.

Into the top 30 and the final song to fall before the 1000 points hurdle is one of the first #1s of the year (and the biggest #1 from this group), "Money On My Mind" by Sam Smith. The track gets a lot of hate for the falsetto and some of the lyrics but to me it's an absolute tune and still my favourite from unavoidable Sam. How much longer can "Stay With Me" hold on? ;o

It's My Birthday was HATE CHART top 5 yet LOTS is lower score than the latter?

People who give -10 to 'It's My Birthday' have no joy (and no dolladolladolla).

'Stay With Me' beating 'Money On My Mind' again <_<

It obviously must have more fans than "Lovers On The Sun", despite being hated more - it's quite a divisive track I guess.

Haha!

Ignore Mr. Wealdstone but I like the song too a bit more than LOTS although the will.i.am rapping starts to get on yer nerves :nocheer:

It's My Birthday is higher than I thought but it's still too low - it's lyrically terrible of course but it's so much FUN.

And yet despite how many there were, all of those negative points didn't even affect its rank :P

29th • Magic! - Rude • 1010 points

28th • Rixton - Me and my Broken Heart • 1080 points

27th • Cheryl feat. Tinie Tempah - Crazy Stupid Love • 1170 points

26th • Calvin Harris - Summer • 1280 points

Just managing to clear the 1000 points barrier is "Rude" by Magic!, a song that seems to get too much hate with five -10s (and multiple mentions in the 'Worst songs of 2014' thread). A massive summer hit on both sides of the Atlantic, it's just so catchy and laidback and I've failed to get bored of it.

Magic! are followed by another band, this time in the form of British group Rixton. Featuring the son of Coleen Nolan and Shane Richie in the role of lead singer, Maroon 5 sound-a-like "Me and My Broken Heart" started taking off in the US prior to becoming a UK #1 (they kinda lucked out as the first three singles from The Vamps all sold more first week and those unlucky buggers never managed #1). I expected this to be a bigger hit than it was, instead it had a 1-8 drop.

Next we lose one of Cheryl's two 2014 #1s. "Crazy Stupid Love", the first single from "Only Human", was released the same week as "Rude" and caused a bit of a debate about who would be #1 with Cheryl having some lengthy pre-orders~ How it worked out was Cheryl debuted at #1 whilst Magic! climbed to the top the following week. One of the worst #1s of the year imo, the verses aren't decent but THAT SAX.

And before we start the top 25 we have Scot Calvin Harris, another artist to have multiple #1s last year. I wouldn't have expected this to be quite so low as Calvin seems fairly popular on here but I guess this just isn't one of his best to a lot of people. To be fair it did have a lot of overplay which made it quite tiring. Cheryl and Calvin both have better tracks still to come.

Very glad Something I Need was right near the bottom, terribly lifeless and dull version of my favourite One Republic song.

Wish Rixton were higher and I really like Crazy Stupid Love but aside from that I have no qualms with what's gone so far. I expected those two to be low-ish anyway!
