Taking inspiration from Thermo's favourite top 20 hit thread (and because I know we all love a good rank here on BJ :P) I thought it would be interesting to see what track that charted in the top 40 but failed to make the top half of it was the favourite last year as voted by us! Always good to give those songs that would otherwise never get an alternative look-in a chance to be voted for in something hence this topic :)

 

There were slightly more 21-40 peaking hits than 11-20 last year (as would be expected) but not by too much. There were in fact 78 tracks which charted between 21 and 40 (which is only 1.5 a week on average) so they've been split into 3 groups of 26 by a random generator. Group A will be running this week & 8 songs from each group will advance to the final

 

Vote for your top 10 in each group as so:

 

+10: Fave

+9: 2nd fave

+8: 3rd fave etc...

 

You can also give up to 3 songs a negative score as so:

 

-1: 3rd least fave

-2: 2nd least fave

-3: Least fave

 

...but this is entirely optional.

 

Should be good fun I hope! Some of my personal faves will appear in this & I'm sure some of yours will too :D

 

Just one note only songs that peaked top 40 for the first time in 2014 are eligible, so the likes of Starship & The Weather Girls are excluded (sadly), however Frankie Knuckles is not!

not exactly a list of classics here. Bad missing the top 20 was a real injustice though, it should've been a top 10 and probably would have been if it was held back for longer. I love the Arty remix of Hey Now in particular, would be +09 if that charted, but the original version's quite nice too. Don't Look Back flopping was also annoying, it had as much R1 exposure as Control yet did so much worse than it (not that Control was massive, but 3 weeks top 10 on dead competition is still better than a #38 smash).
