I say 8/9 weeks, I just run through a couple of tracks never heard before, The Avener is a bit of a mess for me, mind you the Karen Harding track is a choon but there seems to be something missing from it, I was in 2 minds over it when I first heard it in the BJSC forum.

I suppose Doing It/Gravity could get a week, if single sales for Mark Ronson are getting poor, than the week after its Ellie's

I think they will manage 6 weeks in total (non-consecutive), so a further 2 - despite many here predicting Meghan to go to #1 with "Lips Are Movin'" the fact is the track is stalling on streams (up just 26-22 this week) and hardly showing signs of having enough momentum to dethrone a pretty resilient Ronson and Mars in a fortnight. I could be wrong, but I think this is a good example of a novelty hit overshadowing the follow-up, which leads to diminishing returns. It'll be a big #2 but will slip away pretty quickly.

Sadly it looks increasingly likely to be Fergie that slumps into the #1 spot for one week at the end of the month, taking advantage of an flagging "Uptown Funk" which will most likely be down at 70K and easily exposed to hype by then. It's 5 on Shazam and climbing rapidly. Sad times.

Since its sales peaked at 186k, it's since dropped 20k (156k) and 26k (130k). So if it keeps falling ~23k, it would sell 107k, 84k and 61k in coming weeks - all of which could see it at #1. Following that, its sales would be 38k which wouldn't keep it at #1, so anything released on 2 Feb could get to #1, i.e. 'I’m An Albatraoz' and 'Uptown Funk' will have spent 7 weeks at #1.

Of course its sales may stabilise before then but gives you a good enough idea.

I hope so, as I did call it several weeks back that Meghan would find it hard to follow-up the success of 'All About That Bass' (even though everyone was against me :kink:).

I think Meghan can do it she is getting support from all the major radio stations I think she can be the one to knock him off (although I prefer Uptown Funk)

I really get the feeling that Meghan is still going to #1 even though her pre-orders aren't doing amazingly well - the song has been another big hit for her worldwide and she's still a relatively new name without much of a fanbase so I'm not sure the pre-orders are necessarily 100% indicative. Plus I don't think Mark will still be doing over 100k in his seventh week and I think sales like that aren't out of Meghan's reach.

Failing that (and any potential big OA/OS releases) Mark probably will be #1 for at least 8 weeks if not 9. I didn't realise the release schedule was quite this bleak.

Better to look at it in terms of percentages, UF has declined ~17% on both weeks. If you extrapolate that you get next 4 weeks sales of: ~108K, ~89.5K ~74K ~61K

89.5K should stop Meghan, but the week after down at 74K unless UF gets a boost they definitely are vulnerable.

I think it wouldn't impossible for Lips are Movin to enter a #2 the first week with UF at 70-80k then on lower sales or something nab the #1 spot the following week. I guess that Albatroz thing could most likely do it though :(

Until Ellie Goulding, Meghan Trainor is the only one who has a chance of knocking them off #1. If she can't no one else will until Ellie.

It depends where Meghan is on iTunes come Saturday, if she's top 40 then I believe she will be #01, she's already got streaming which is performing reasonably well. I still think Fergie could be a surprising #01 as it's performing well on Itunes

I wouldn't be so sure of Albatraoz going to #1. We don't even know if R1 are going to playlist it yet, and there's no way it'll get anywhere near with no radio support. Wouldn't surprise me if they pushed back the release though, maybe R1 know something we don't hence the lack of support so far

Fergie LA Love is dreadful :puke:

More likely to be 8, Charli XCX/Rita Ora or DJ Fresh/Ella Eyre grabbing a week on low sales before Ellie Goulding grabs it the week after

While I despite Meghan Trainor and "Lips Are Movin'", I have a feeling it could knock Mark Ronson off the summit, so I'm going to say 5 weeks. Fergie could well claim the #1 the week after that before letting "Uptown Funk" return to #1 until Ne-Yo or Ellie Goulding.

I'm happy to be proven wrong and have it spend those 9 weeks at #1 until Ellie Goulding's release though - or for someone like Rihanna to surprise release a track on decent sales. "Uptown Funk" is fully deserving of its success, so I'm glad we're getting a long running hit out of it!

i've seen albatraoz make its way into real life situations and the last time that happened was all of the other novelty hits (loca people etc) and route 94
I think Rihanna will drop something in the next month and reinvent all previously held assumptions of the nature of civilisation.
I'll say 8 weeks if I've added up right, I think Charli and Rita (or something else that week) will knock it off.
I think Meghan will make it to number 1. And if she doesn't it will be 9 weeks. I think she will though.
Even if Meghan gets too no1 and a few others in the weeks after UF could still get to the top again well into its run like Happy did last yr!
