Oh God that's a terrible ratings win! At least Emmerdale gets a chance to be the #1 most watched programme though.

A lot of people have said that the fact the winners for BSA were revealed 5 days before broadcast is what brought in the low ratings for the ceremony, but that's still a hefty drop from the ~5m it's managed in recent years.

ta Rabbit. Not only Eurovision down 2 million on last year, BGT is down two million from last week! Not a great figure going into the Semi Final week.
Still a very good TV share for Eurovision, higher than BGT! The interest in the UK entry felt as low as for Josh in 2010, so it's good to see ratings around 1.5 million higher than that year (I have a figure of 5.2 million in my head for that year but I could be wrong), still very good ratings I think :D

That's an absolute DISASTER for Jonathan Strange. The BBC have been pushing it really hard too, I saw the advert basically every time there was a break between shows for the last month.

Do you have figures for previous years showing the difference between the man in BGT show and the results show? At least two million people watching the main programme but not the results, seems quite high. Maybe two million people find the whole drawn-out process rather tedious, and would prefer to look it up on the programme's website.

The results always seem to be behind but not quite to the extent this year. In general, both Corrie and BGT have dropped off this year.

Previous Mondays on BGT week

2014

EastEnders: 5.10m (22.3%)

Coronation Street: 8.67m (36.2%)

Britain's Got Talent: 9.12m (39.1%) and 7.86m (33.3%)

2013

Coronation Street: 9.47m (36.2%)

Britain's Got Talent: 9.89m (41.5%) and 7.92m (31.4%)

2012

EastEnders: 5.56m (21.7%)

Coronation Street: 8.70m (33.2%)

Britain's Got Talent: 9.40m (35.6%) and 8.35m (32.4%)

2011

EastEnders: 5.20m (19.2%)

Coronation Street: 10.42m (39.4%)

Britain's Got Talent: 10.91m (41.9%) and 10.04m (38.2%)

Eastenders have remained pretty consistent during the past few years of BGT Monday clashes!

In regards to Corrie and BGT being down on last year, that's possibly due to it being a Bank Holiday yesterday. Ratings will probably go up for tonight's (although I noticed that this time last year, Corrie fell on the Tuesday before going back up the rest of the week: Monday: 8.67m; Tuesday: 7.80m; Wednesday: 8.61m; Thursday: 8.50m).

But BGT live week has always begun on a bank holiday except 2012 when it moved early to try and destroy The Voice UK.

Corrie benefiting from that trailer that was released on Tuesday which showed more of the fire being advertised then! Wouldn't be surprised if ratings went up a little more tomorrow, although perhaps not by too much since it's not usually aired on a Thursday.

Whilst I expect ratings to be higher than previous weeks for next week's episodes (i.e. all above 7m and perhaps almost 8m for Monday), I don't think this week will have a lasting effect for the show's ratings. I've seen a lot of comments expressing disappointment in this week's episodes, although the same people did also say they were intrigued enough to continue watching the rest of the week - a view which I share.
