It would have had two weeks at #1 if "Uptown Funk" wasn't rush released

I have a feeling Uptown Funk would've been pulled forward, even without X Factor rapidly increasing its demand. It's just so popular of a song, that I think they would've released it early anyway like Wake Me Up and Blurred Lines

Wednesday Update Top 40

Other notable new entries

46 Rae Morris - Under The Shadows

49 Avicii - The Nights

I love how you're recently adding in these notable entries Mart!n :D

Fingers crossed for a top 40 entry tomoz or Friday.

Heroes seems to be doing what Outside was doing! (both are GREAT AWESOME tracks too! :cheer:)

My other wishes for SUNDAY:

  • Uptown Funk to spam 100,000 'copies' again :woohoo:
  • TOL to GTFO from the top 5 (if we're lucky but this is only wishful thinking )
  • Heroes to keep its 'up 2' status
  • Shake It Off to keep the shaking her competitors to a maximum to stay in the top 20
  • Bang Bang to stay out of the top 20
  • Don't and Sing to NOT recover from their mid falls :drama:
  • Cool Kids to keep climbing
  • All Of Me (you know what I want from it :drama:)
  • Blame to GO, but not so desperate as Taylor is
John Legend on the climb again http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ed2305b7.png

The song needs to do one

I confirm these two posts.

So glad to see Blonde climbing up again. I hope the song re-peaks

I don't think I've ever seen a chart run quite like I Loved You. It seems like music buyers have realised what a great song it is!

Oh, and Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve is at #44 on iTunes! Other re-entries on iTunes:

  • #76: Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine
  • #79: Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen
  • #81: (Sittin In) The Dock Of The Bay by Otis Redding
  • #85: Starstrukk by 3OH!3 featuring Katy Perry
  • #88: I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers
  • #90: Ruby by Kaiser Chiefs
  • #95: Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars
  • #96: Human by Christina Perri
  • #98: Milkshake by Kelis
All of the re-entries are at £0.59 (everyone loves a bargain, don't they?)
Great to see Carole King's Tapestry making a reappearance in the chart! :cheer: I hope it stays 99p on google play all week and re-enters the top 10. :D

Blonde may be benefiting from being on a advert for a dance compilation CD that I've seen quite a few times, but aside from that its just rising due to older songs that increased over Christmas falling back again I think.
I'd say Hozier could just nick No2 this week and hopefully Echosmith make the top 25!

Unlikely, Philip George is currently extending his lead over Hozier for number 2

Oh didn't realise that. I thought the download had 3/4 versions in the top 150 and his streams are slightly bigger as he's No2!

And Hozier has streaming on his side

Not forgetting that it is also played often in bars and nightclubs which is another way for it to grab people's attention and make them go out and buy it

"Blurred Lines" was never rush released. It was released on 26 May 2013 as scheduled

no need to post 3 times in a row when you can just edit the first post

So does Philip George, they are at #2 and #4 on the Spotify chart respectively. Given "Wish You Were Mine" is currently extending its lead over "Take Me To Church" there is absolutely zero chance it will swap places. Hozier are a lock for #3 but they won't be any higher on Sunday.

You mean is, not are. Hozier is one person

Don't Tell 'Em is #19 on iTunes (priced £0.59). But will it re-enter the top 40?

For a moment I thought you had a Mikey moment

In regards to Blonde's 'I Loved You', it's not really received a boost as such, more like its sales are stable: it sold 17k at #31 then 18.5k when it climbed to #19 and I reckon its sales when it was #29 and #35 were about 16/17k too.

maybe he simply didn't know the gender of Hozier :o

and as we all know you can refer to an unknown gender as 'their'

Anyway, of marginal interest is that Mark Ronson has actually sold (and streamed) marginally more to COP Tuesday this week than last week. I don't think it'll be sustained, but it suggests a minor fall (~-5%) in chart sales this week. Very impressive for a song 6 weeks into its chart life and having sold well over half a million copies already.
I Loved You's run is remisnicent to Back To Black (the album). It entered at 3, dropped quickly, then climbed back up again.

I was going to mention that but didn't (because I'm not a modifier).

But anyway in this context 'are' would be for multiple persons and 'is' for singular.

But if there were unknown numbers of members in an artist what would we say?

Would it be safe to say 'is', pretending that you are referring to the title of the artist rather than member(s)?

I say yes :D
