Are we sure Ed Sheeran will be #1 next week? The pre-orders haven't suggested #1 to me, even if it is added to the original version.

Nice to see Cheryl climbing a bit more now, up to #84! Still not gonna be top 40 at the end of the week and might not even re-peak but oh well.

Luke Friend's pre-order is #809, really impressed at how well this is doing with no support, wondering if it might still make the top 40? :o

I can't see what else could be #1 for a few weeks after Jess, apart from Ed, mind you I would prefer Jess to hang on to the #1 spot for a few weeks, rather than having RudieEd

Hold My Hand took a while to click, but it's really feel good and far superior to the rather lacklustre Right Here, feels quite similar to her Clean Bandit collaborations, but not enough to detract from it and it's not like both artists' sounds are worlds apart.

I agree that Sam Smith is a blemish on the otherwise flawless run of number 1s this year, I'm surprised, I'm not normally this pleased by the number 1s :o (I actually like Bloodstream as well, so that would pretty much keep the streak going should that get there)

If Jess is expected to have big sales this week then I can't see her losing the #1 spot to Ed and Rudimental. I can see them perhaps making the Top 5.

Bar "Bloodstream" next week (and even then I'm not convinced), I don't think we'll get a new number-one until Carly Rae Jepsen on April 27th if it can become even more popular in the coming weeks. 5 weeks for "Hold My Hand" then potentially, unless something else climbs ("FourFiveSeconds" or "Hold Back the River"). Quite liking these long-running #1s actually, go 2015!

On sales :heehee:

Oh I think that's a certainty :heehee: My logic is that he's done better than G.R.L. did with Lighthouse on pre-orders (let's not forget it went top 100 when first added) so should at least make the top 50 overall, top 40 hopefully!!

5 weeks for Jess is a bit of a tall order I think, if her sales drop off along the way, something is bound to climb or a big new release mid week, unless the Voice winner goes and releases a single, but I doubt that will happen, previous winners from the Voice have not released a single straight off.

IT's already number 5 BTW...

But yeah, it doesn't count as the day of release, so it needs to climb like old times.. but the sales on the chart is still count of course.

Songs used to have to climb from the very bottom of the chart when there were no pre-orders whatsoever in the iTunes singles chart so it's a bit different nowadays.

The new rules make the chart so much more interesting to follow on release day now, rather than Jess Glynne making #1 at 12:20am and that being the end of things. Much like the old days with the Single EP Pre-orders.
The new rule actually makes me feel sorry for the people who actually do use pre-orders... It's like those customers don't even affect the actual chart...

Really? Considering nobody from that show has ever had a hit single I highly doubt it even if they tried that strategy.

Except they do, they get counted into the actual chart itself...

The prospect of Jess potentially being no.1 for 5 weeks. :drama: This track is very average, but hey it's certainly better than 'Lay Me Down' getting another week at the top so I'll take it.

Probably the majority of people who download songs on iTunes wouldn't care about the charts anyway, they just want the song that they like as soon as possible without getting it in a illegal way.
