R.I.P Sir Bobby Charlton. One of the best ever to do it in English football, a true legend of England and Manchester United and one of the very few English players who knew what it felt like to lift the World Cup trophy.

Nottingham Panthers forward Adam Johnson has died after suffering a serious cut to his neck from a skate during Saturday's Challenge Cup match.

The game against the Sheffield Steelers was stopped in the 35th minute as the 29-year-old American received emergency treatment from paramedics on the ice.

The Panthers said on Sunday they were "devastated" Johnson had died following a "freak accident".

"The club will dearly miss him and will never ever forget him," they added.

"Adam, our number 47, was not only an outstanding ice hockey player, but also a great team-mate and an incredible person with his whole life ahead of him.

I saw the clip of the incident, it's horrific but that other guy deliberately and intentionally kicked him in the neck. That was no accident.

You might want to re-evaluate this comment, it's clearly a freak accident.

RIP Terry Venables aged 80

Sad news. Let’s not forget he loved jazz and even recorded a football single for the 2002 World Cup.

Loved his charisma and his likeable personality.

RIP German legend Franz Beckenbauer, one of three men to have won the World Cup as a player and a manager. One of the other two is Mario Zagallo who died just two days ago.
Beckenbaur is a name like Charlton that’s synominous with football!
RIP. Didn't really know much of Beckenbauer, but he always appeared in the Germany Legends squad in classic Pro Evolution Soccer games.
