I don't want to be the one to question the whole system because I understand why it's in place etc. but aren't all these vetoes getting a little bit ridiculous? In all fairness, what threat does an Eva Simons song pose just because she won before? Her last entry didn't even qualify and it was a fairly "in" dance sound.

 

I do agree with a few of the vetos this contest in all fairness but this just seems an alarming amount of vetos for one contest!

Eva Simons as an artist isn't exactly unknown and if I dare say, that she has some form of following in Buzzjack. The majority of the mods including myself thought it was a bit too cheap thus decided to kick it out.

14 vetoes though :lol: Poor Bre, having to get all the re-confirmations.

Also guys, songs aren't judged in what way they pose a threat to the contest but the awareness of it. If a song which was borderline and sounds like a hit, it doesn't trigger any of my buttons further in terms wanting to get rid of it more than a track which sounds like it'd flop.

I think that would actually be fair. Like, instead of it ALL being delayed (and f***ing up the schedule you have planned to avoid clashes with other big events) it'd make sense if the person that couldn't send a viable entry on time is at a slight disadvantage and allowed in a day late or whenever they confirm. Still allowed to enter, because he/she did confirm in time, but only added in when a new song is confirmed ~

I think that's a record guys. I agree with most of the vetos this month, with so many entrants it's understandable that there are some, it just seems huge when we had nearly none last time.

 

Eva Simons' last entry was before her UK #1 with This Is Love and really, nowhere near the most questionable one on there.

I do agree with pretty much all the vetoes, people just need to stop being cheap hoes sending songs that are obviously not going to get through.

 

I got most of these new vetoes to have backups prepared specifically BECAUSE I knew they were going to be vetoed - but I didn't ask Tim for one because I had no idea PTAF was something that'd be vetoed. For what it's worth I have never heard of it ~

All these vetoes... and I must say I agree with most of them. Brooke Fraser, I'm still baffled by because I wouldn't have even considered it being vetoed. Katy Tiz, I'm half and half on. But the rest seem pretty solid vetoes to me, past winners are just cheap to send, a song sampled in a popular Nicki mixtape and in a vine is veto worthy, Bebe Rexha is just... why bother?

There is nothing wrong with the veto framework, there is everything wrong with 10 people deciding to try and skirt by it this month :magic:

 

(in fairness I don't think ALL of the vetoes were a case of people expecting them to be vetoed but trying anyway)
