Posted June 10, 201510 yr MkElfR_NPBI It's currently sitting at #57 on pre-orders with a month to go. However, Avicii now releasing the same day could pose some competition, especially since 'Waiting For Love' is already available to stream. So where do we reckon this will chart, and how many copies will it shift in the first week? Edited June 10, 201510 yr by Defaze
June 10, 201510 yr #1, 150k+ first week I think 150k+ is very ambitious. I would say around 100k-120k is more likely.
June 10, 201510 yr I really really like this song a lot, it's I'd say probably their strongest single since 'DNA' (and Ed Drewett, one of my favourite pop guys ever co-wrote it). Pop's had a bit of a kicking from streaming lately though - just look at Lawson etc. I'm going to say it'll be a top 5 for them at the very least but I hope it'll do better than that.
June 10, 201510 yr I still think it'll grab number one on sales on around 100,000 but Avicii's release on the same day is going to make it an interesting chart battle! I'm not the biggest Little Mix fan in the world but I like this song, sounds like a proper number one to me!
June 10, 201510 yr It'll be a #1 with 100k+ I'm sure, still don't really get how though, it reminds me a bit of Disco Love by the Saturdays - just a bit cheesy and generic and not really the sort of thing that massively clicks with the public in this way? Maybe I'm letting my own judgement cloud it but it just sounds so anonymous to me :/ (Happy for them though, as I generally like them)
June 10, 201510 yr I do know where you're coming from Chez, I love the song but I am very surprised it is such a hit seeing as it looked like they were starting to fizzle out and the general public don't usually take to pure pop songs like this anymore.
June 10, 201510 yr I think Pure Pop is having a bit of a comeback. I Really Like You, Want To Want Me, Heartbeat Song and now this. I think dance pop has tired and people are starting to welcome back pure pop.
June 10, 201510 yr I don't think there's really been enough proof to suggest pure pop is making a particular comeback. Those songs do fit the category but they're all by known artists and it certainly helped that Capital hammer them (Kelly was a surprise at first but she's still popular in the US and we all know the UK usually likes what the US do). I think when debut artists start getting big pure pop hits, then it'll be time to say pop has made a comeback. At the moment, it's hard to say what's "in" right now due to the lack of releases. Dance music does seem to be drifting but, I suppose this is a matter of an opinion, most of it seems to be quite faceless and generic - there's not much new and exciting like 'Rather Be', 'Hideaway', 'I Got U', 'Waves', 'Waiting All Night', 'Get Lucky', 'Wake Me Up' etc from the past couple of years. Then again, Diplo and Kygo's music seems to be the thing right now which are both variations of dance which is original, plus 'Cheerleader' too. Anyway, back on topic, I agree that Little Mix will be #1 but it doesn't feel right that they could be managing 100k+. It feels like it should sell 80k-90k (which I suppose it could do if pre-orders are only appearing to do really well due to low sales).
June 11, 201510 yr I don't understand its popularity - it's such a significant backwards step for them following Salute. Probably a number 1 though. Edited June 11, 201510 yr by FleetSeb
June 11, 201510 yr When is it out? New Release Schedule says 10th July which isn't same day as Avicii? I reckon #2 anyway.
