The number of shots on target at Anfield was pitiful (two for Bournemouth, one for Liverpool). I've never really accepted that the bulk of the big decisions go in favour of the bigger clubs and against the smaller clubs. However, the two big decisions tonight will be used by supporters of that theory.

I think the new offside rule is bonkers to be honest, at least with the old rule there was some consistency. With this rule, I see a lot more occurrences happening tonight over the season.

Now feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't UEFA insist that the BPL call this new offside rule as everyone else on the continent does presently?

Another 1-0 win. Not the greatest performance, but I'm not complaining

Bournemouth were good, but didn't have any real clear cut chances. The decisions did go against them, but we had a few opportunities ourselves where we probably should have punished them. Benteke towards the end of the game comes to mind

Despite the performance, I still don't think they'll be good enough to stay up

They remind me of Burnley. I think they will hit form at some stage, but I also think they will really struggle. They lack real goal threat, I mean Liverpool are poor defensively and we didn't concede one chance to them from open play, they were restricted to shots outside the box.

The way Sunderland have played I think we are fodder this year. Looks like Newcastle may actually take points off us this season.

I don't think somehow Bournemouth can stay up although in my heart I hope they do but my head says they'll go down.

Liverpool seem to be more fluid for whatever reason when they have a midfield three of Milner, Can & Hendo. Would like to see Ferminhio given a chance over Lallana who isn't ideal behind Benteke. It is quite promising that Mignolet has the most clean sheets of any premiership keeper in 2015, we are improving as a team.

As for Jose he's on year 3 at the club that's usually the start of the unravelling - he has never really created a dynasty at any club yet.

The crucial point about the new interpretation is whether the player distracted the opposition by going for the ball. I think Coutinho did distract the defence, and so he was offside.

Sounds to me as though this 'new' offside rule is going to be a sticky wicket throughout the season....

I think we're playing (and will do so until November I expect) not to lose. We gave away far too many easy chances, and Rodgers knows if he screws up he's gone. The key is just to be there or thereabouts, as our away games in 2015 are insanely hard. Key is to just not give away so many cheap goals like we did last year.

Oh he was offside no doubt about it under the new rules, he distracted the keeper - but it's still very judgemental and inconsistent, at least the previous rule was more black and white.

Really very frustrated that we didn't take the three points there. Started off very well but just couldn't quite hold onto that. The last 15 minutes was just insane! Chance after chance and we really should have converted at least one. On the plus side, Rooney found the back of the net again (even if he was offside) and our attempts are up dramatically again from the first two matches.

It is looking much better than last year but we really need to be taking all 3 points against sides like Newcastle.

Disappointing result against Newcastle and now we'll almost surely fall behind Man City by the end of the weekend. It's looking like Swansea will be top of the table tonight instead of Man Utd.

Man Utd have no finishing power at all, they should have wrapped the game up after 15 minutes. They're very solid, but have absolutely no attacking prowess whatsoever. Rooney is beyond dire, it's an absolute must to get a striker.

Not sure I can stomach the fest over Depay. 3 games in the Premier League and he's done nothing, yet apparently he's the love child of Cruyff/Ronaldo. Maybe I'm watching a different game.

Depay was absolutely on fire against Brugge. There's no doubt in my mind about his potential.

He's a good player no doubt. Just nowhere near as good as everyone's made him out to be this week.

Memphis Depay has been in good goal-scoring opportunities in these opening matches and he has created quite a lot of good chances for the likes of Rooney as well. He needs time to fully settle to English football and I'm sure once he has then he will possibly be one of our best players of the season.
