God damnit guys! Set The Fire To The Third Bar deserves more than this, now I'm going to have to push for it to qualify all over again next year :( Meanwhile one place above, Nelly Furtado gets it easy two years in a row. Life is just unfair. Again, we lose similar numbers of playoff qualifiers down at the bottom, I hope this isn't going to be repeated too much as we go through the years. 3 of the top 5 of the playoff qualifiers go straight out too.

The worst affected AQ is also the 20th placed from last year like in 2005, only this time it's Hurt by Xtine. I'm quite surprised at that, I thought it was far more loved. Breakaway also did quite well last year and not so well this time.

25 28 - Justice vs Simian - We Are Your Friends 214

24 37 1 Sugababes - Red Dress 220

23 17 - Lily Allen - LDN 220

19 9 - P!nk - U + Ur Hand 240

18 22 - Kooks - Naïve 250

17 24 - Lily Allen - Smile 256

16 10 - Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way 262 (18 votes)

Oh, and this is very good, Knights Of Cydonia is the first beneficiary of the 25 qualifier rule, as it would not have qualified under my old system yet with a plethora of high votes from those who did like it see it high enough to secure Muse a second AQ for 2006 again :D The old Muse injustices have been reversed on that count. Touch The Sky is also a bit of a surprising new AQ but I will roll with it.

The highest new AQ is Red Dress, which stormed the playoff and for a brief moment here was looking like progressing to the next round too. As it's my least favourite song the Sugababes (at least up until 3.0) have ever put their name to that was worrying me a little, but as you can see it did fall a bit short in the end. From last year's top 15 Crazy and U + Ur Hand do significantly worse, as does She Moves In Her Own Way which is on a three-way tiebreak for the next place, and as you can see, it was quite tight in vote numbers - and it would be my choice out of the three if I could just pick and choose - argh.

15 34 - Madonna - Sorry 262 (19 votes)

14 15 - Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars 262 (20 votes)

13 23 - Nelly Furtado - All Good Things (Come To An End) 274

12 13 - Justin Timberlake (feat. Timbaland) - SexyBack 289

11 7 - Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down 292

10 14 - My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade 296

9 8 - Rihanna - Unfaithful 297

8 16 - Cascada - Everytime We Touch 301

7 4 - Beyoncé - Irreplaceable 317

6 12 - Rihanna - SOS 325

Nonetheless that makes this bit quite interesting as there's a vast improvement from Madonna from nearly falling out of the AQ zone last time to onto the next round this time, so a good year for Madge so far. Snow Patrol is also a beneficiary with the song that has died a chart death now but didn't use to.

Importantly though, there's a top 10 placing for Welcome To The Black Parade, comfortably it's best position ever I think! And for both Rihanna's hits and Everytime We Touch. I'm not gonna argue, that's a great result.

5 3 - Girls Aloud - Something Kinda Ooh 335

4 6 - Amy Winehouse - Rehab 359

3 1 - P!nk - Who Knew 380

2 2 - Nelly Furtado - Maneater 401

1 5 - Shakira (feat. Wyclef Jean) - Hips Don't Lie 450

Something Kinda Ooh hangs onto the relevance I remember it gaining out of nowhere last year in a top 5 that's almost the same except with Rehab swapping with Irreplaceable. It's in a very different order though as the triumphant one is Shakira's summer-spanning hit Hips Don't Lie, a fantastic tune. Weirdly, she wins with exactly the same score as Hung Up over in 2005. Illuminati? Coincidence? You decide.

Something Kinda OOOOH

See they did a very clever thing with the artwork to help you remember the spelling x

Pretty good new / returning AQs for David Guetta/The Egg, Muse, Fedde Le Grand and Kanye West/Lupe Fiasco! And a shite one in Infernal but swings and roundabouts ~

Why did I have to knock 'She Moves In Her Own Way' out of my votes at the last second :( Would have much preferred that to progress over 'Sorry', ah wells.

'All Good Things (Come To An End)' top 15, My Chemical Romance top 10 and Shakira winning *.*

Incredible winner there in 'Hips Don't Lie', still a firm favourite.

Not too keen on quite a few songs in the top 15 but that top 5 is pretty solid. 'Something Kinda Ooooh' in particular is definitely one of Girls Aloud's best, such a banger of a pop song!

Adam is the real winner here by getting 'Ooh' to be changed to 'Ooooh'! *.*

Red Dress is one of my favourite pop songs of the 2000s, so *sticks tongue out at Iz, then prays for him*

A fantastic Top 5 there! The Shakira song really did define the summer of 2006. Meanwhile 'Who Knew' is a song with special memories attached to it for me, so I'm thrilled to see that is really appreciated here.
