Posted July 19, 201510 yr Black Magic this week became the 1296th UK number 1 of all time so we only have four more chart toppers until we know who achieves the 1300th. Early contenders include Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor's collaboration along with Sarah Harding's solo debut available for release in the week of the earliest opportunity, Jess Glynne has her new one out the following week assuming the milestone hasn't happened by then. July 19, 201510 yr I know Little Mix are technically the 1296th #1, but this includes the re-issues of Bohemian Rhapsody, My Sweet Lord and the 3 Elvis 2005 #1s. So we've still got a while to go before the 'actual' 1300th song to make #1 happens :heehee: Also, lol at Sarah Harding being a contender. She won't even go top 100 on iTunes
July 19, 201510 yr Actually since Marvin Gaye will be under 1300 I think maybe Sigala will take that honour! Edited July 19, 201510 yr by Rob S~
July 19, 201510 yr I know Little Mix are technically the 1296th #1, but this includes the re-issues of Bohemian Rhapsody, My Sweet Lord and the 3 Elvis 2005 #1s. 'Three Lions' is also double counted (the '98 version was different to the original of course but their sales are now combined).
July 19, 201510 yr I'm going to predict; 1297 Charlie Puth/Meghan Trainor - Marvin Gaye 1298 Felix Jaehn/Jasmine Thompson - Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) 1299 Jess Glynne - Don't Be So Hard on Yourself 1300 Sigala - Easy Love Though part of me feels Jess Glynne won't hit #1 and that perhaps the upcoming Disclosure/Sam Smith will be BIG!
July 19, 201510 yr Be surprised if Felix Jaehn got there. Marvin Gaye has the look of a long-runner so could put pay to them & even Jess Glynne. I'm sure something will come out of nowhere & explode. During the slow periods this tends to be what happens :D
July 19, 201510 yr Think it could go: 1297 Charlie Puth ft. Meghan Trainor - Marvin Gaye 1298 Felix Jaehn ft. Jasmine Thompson - Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) 1299 Silento - Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) 1300 Sigala - Easy Love Jess Glynne has a shot also, if she's somehow able to knock off 'Marvin Gaye' then Silento would probably get the 1300th
July 22, 201510 yr Author what are the previous 100th number ones? July 23, 201510 yr Be surprised if Felix Jaehn got there. Marvin Gaye has the look of a long-runner Marvin Gaye? I thought he died 30 years ago...
July 23, 201510 yr Marvin Gaye? I thought he died 30 years ago... A) Humour fail B) Even if you are being serious, ever heard of postumous #1s?
July 23, 201510 yr A) Humour fail B) Even if you are being serious, ever heard of postumous #1s? Oh well, at least a song *about* Marvin Gaye couldn't be as bad as a song *by* Marvin Gaye (with the sole exception of 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine').
August 17, 20159 yr Author One Direction with Drag Me Down made it 1297 last week and Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor's Marvin Gaye this week makes it 1298 with Jess Glynne on course to become 1299, assuming she does it and with no big releases next week Calvin Harris who's still doing well at the moment may make it to 1300! Edited August 17, 20159 yr by zenon
August 17, 20159 yr Contenders for #1; 21/08 Rachel Platten, Felix Jaehn 28/08 Demi Lovato 04/09 Sigala If Jess Glynne holds on for two weeks, I reckon Demi Lovato could be in with a real shot. If not, it'll either be Rachel Platten or Calvin Harris climbing - though I doubt his sales are going to increase much more now to claim #1 with all those tracks that should be clearing 50/60k at least.
August 17, 20159 yr Oh well, at least a song *about* Marvin Gaye couldn't be as bad as a song *by* Marvin Gaye (with the sole exception of 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine'). The logic in this is perplexing.
August 18, 20159 yr I bloody hope not. Sigala or Rachel to snatch it pls Edited August 18, 20159 yr by *Tim
