Amazing top 3, but then again about 50% of this countdown would've warranted a comment of "an amazing top 3". But 'Breakaway' IS the best album of all time (well, to me it is!) and that era was (almost) perfect for singles. The only different thing I'd have done is have 'Gone' follow BOY, and then 'Breakaway' followed by 'Walk Away'!

Tbh "MLWSWY" came at a time when I completely tuned out of pop music and I'd only ever hear it by circumstance, so it never left much of an impression on me I'm afraid. Listening to it now though, I can at least appreciate it as a good pop song.

And that top 3! I agree that it's kind of predictable, but Breakaway was when she really first came through as a pop force, so those singles will always be the most iconic in her discography I think. The one thing though is that for the past few years all my attention has been totally focused on "SUBG", so I've been going back to her other singles during that era, and I realized just how much I've underrated them compared to "SUBG". Totally took for granted what an amazing run of singles that '04-'06 period gave her.

At the #3 spot is "Because Of You" released in August 2005 as the 4th single from her 2nd smash album "Breakaway" , and capping off a very successful year for her. She originally wrote the song when she was 16 as a way to cope with emotional distress, due to her parents divorce. She even wanted it included on her debut "Thankful", but the record label thought that it wasn't suitable, so she produced the song with other writers and gave it a final polish and it wound up on her 2nd album. Despite the record company originally not wanting it, the song received acclaim and became a huge chart smash by reaching #7 on the US Top 100, becoming her 6th top 10 hit and hanging round the charts for months, in the UK it also reached #7 becoming another chart smash there also. Elsewhere it topped the charts in Netherlands and Swiss, along with top 5 peaks in Canada, Hungary, Austria, Australia, Germany, Belgium, Ireland and Norway. This actually scored more points than the runner up, but due to this receiving the full amount of rates, and that getting one less rate, so this received the slightly lower average. But oh well this still managed a top 3 placing which is fantastic and well deserved. This was actually the winner during the first half of the scoring, but it slightly slowed down and got taken over. This would have been a well and truly deserved winner, so beautiful and quite tragic, this is definitely her best ballad, which added depth to her most successful era.

Since U Been Gone VS Behind These Hazel Eyes

Who will win the final battle.

Agreed. But BTHE is a VERY deserving winner too. So I don't particularly care tbh. Her discography <3
Any of the remaining two songs are much deserving winners but I'd probably opt for BTHE to win. I used to absolutely love SUBG back in the day but I overplayed it so much when I bought the album that I've never been interested enough in listening to it ever since. 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' though has aged much better in my opinion.

02. Behind These Hazel Eyes | Breakaway | Avg.9.46

Right then now we are almost at end, and our runner up is the brilliant pop gem "Behind These Hazel Eyes", which means you all know who the winner is, and that will be coming up. But for now we have this classic well crafted pop song. Released in April 2005 as the 3rd US single and 2nd International single, taken from her 2nd album "Breakaway" and is the perfect follow up to the mega smash hit "SUBG", and even cited by Kelly herself as one of her faves from her back catalogue. I have to say that when I first heard this, it was instantly my favourite song, but after "MLWSWY" came out, this now my second fave, and so glad that it did so brilliantly here, with 3 11's, 21 10's and several 9's and 8's, out of 38 rates only 2 scores were lower middling. But if this was based on points alone, then this would have settled for the #3 spot, but on average due to this getting one less rate than "BOY", this had the higher average. The song itself reflects the break up with David Hodges. It became another success for her following in the footsteps from the album's previous 2 singles, In the USA it reached #6, spending 15 weeks in the top 10 and becoming her 4th top 10 hit and also making the top 10 in the UK at #9 becoming her 3rd there. Elsewhere it also managed success by reaching top 5 in Ireland and top 10 peaks in Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand and Austria, then also top 20 in Germany and Swiss, then top 40 elsewhere.

So Buzzjack that was the runner up and now the wait is finally over and the winner is.....

So there we have it guys the #1 Kelly Clarkson is single is none other than her signature tune "Since U Been Gone", well and truly deserved, although I have heard a million times and played it to death when it came out, still I absolutely love it and is definitely one of my personal faves from her and alltime. This is also the song that made me a lifetime fan of her and probably a lot of other people, after hearing this I rushed out to by the album and even bought "Thankful", coz that's how into her I was. Although already a big star before this, mainly in the USA, this is the song that put her on the map to Worldwide fame. Released in November 2004 in the USA as the 2nd and lead single from "Breakaway", then early 2005 elsewhere as the lead single, the song became a smash hit. Originally it was meant for Pink, but she turned it down and then it was passed to Hilary Duff but she also turned it down, due to not reaching the high notes and finally Kelly managed to get it and decided that she wanted to give a more rock sound, as the demo was just a pop song, and in turn it ended up changing her career forever, after being originally dismissed as just another reality TV act that won't get past the 2nd album, she proved everybody wrong when this and the album became an enormous success. In the USA it reached #2 being held off the #1 spot by Mariah Carey's 15 week chart topper "We Belong Together", this managed 20 weeks and went on to sell over 2.7 million units. In the UK it peaked at #5, becoming her 1st top 5 hit and spent over 50 weeks in the charts altogether. Elsewhere it reached top 5 in Australia, Austria, Ireland and Netherlands, along with top 10 peaks in Germany, Swiss, Norway and Netherlands. Despite a slowish start during the first half of the rates, where it got a 0 by Griff which has prevented it from getting a higher average, but 9.5 is still great, the high scores started piling up very quickly ending up with the most 11's than any other song with 6 and a whopping 21 10's, there was only that one low score, as the 2nd lowest score was 8, so not too shabby and this guys is the end, thanks to everybody whose voted and made this possible.

Was hoping for a because of you win as it's my favourite song of all time but at least it made the top 3

Great winner, my 2nd favourite Kelly song and a singalong anthem

BTHE is my favourite of hers ever, but SUBG is an amazing winner
Both outstanding really, I'd have slightly preferred BTHE but SUBG has REALLY come up in my affections too. I used to think it was quite overrated  It's still probably "only" like 8th or 9th in my fave Kelly songs but for most other artists it'd be a clear highlight of their discography!
