How crucial will that missed penalty for Atletico Madrid?

Ronaldo wins the Champions League for Real Madrid. La Un Decima for them. Got to feel sorry for Atletico Madrid.

If it wasn't for that missed penalty in normal time, I was routing for Atletico to win this game, for their first win.

I feel gutted for Atletico Madrid, I was hoping that they would win their first ever European Cup but unfortunately Griezmann's penalty hit the bar and the rest is history. Real Madrid are the bogey team of Atletico in this competition, this is the 3rd season in a row that their Champions League hopes have been ended by their Madrid neighbours.

So gutting for Athletico, close game over the 120 minutes, first half and last part of extra time better for Real, the rest Athletico, unfortunately that's the lottery of a penalty shootout. Thoroughly amazing performance from AM though, and if they keep on developing the way they are that CL trophy will be their's sooner rather than later :wub: fully establishing themselves into the elite group of current football superpowers with Barca, Real, and Bayern

Brilliant for Bale especially that's 2 CLs in 3 seasons. Also is Zidane the first ever person to win the CL as player & manager (not including European Cups just since the CL's inception?) or am I missing someone obvious...

As soon as it went to pens you knew Real would get it. I just wish it wasn't the dreadful CR7 who got to take the big shot. He wasn't exactly impactful for much of the match.

Gutted for Athletico. Thought they edged it over the 120 minutes. They really are the architects of their downfall though sometimes, their style of play works brilliantly over two legs, but over a big one off game it can be massively detrimental.

Yeh it meant it was all about him even tho he had a rubbish final, and now no doubt will do nothing in the euros as his injuries catch up with him - although Portugal have a better all round squad with all their young players pushing through!
