August 27, 20159 yr Great to see 'Blank Space' so high! :o 'OOOOH' and 'Something New' doing quite well! :D And a new peak for 'Sexy! No No No...' *.* Get with it Iz, it's an incredible song </3 Lol at 1 - 4 - 108 for 'Bleeding Love' a few years a back. Incredibly pleasing that 'Losing You' is so appreciated on BuzzJack!
August 27, 20159 yr Author dX3k_QDnzHE elueA2rofoo 20 85 2011 Kanye West - All Of The Lights 311 ( 172 - 220 - 85 - 20 ) 19 44 2011 M83 - Midnight City 311 ( 13 - 15 - 44 - 19 ) 18 16 2007 Britney Spears - Gimme More 314 ( 40 - 52 - 67 - 62 - 92 - 132 - 16 - 18 ) 17 79 2008 Coldplay - Viva La Vida 316 ( 15 - 51 - 15 - 32 - 28 - 79 - 17 ) 16 35 2013 Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell) - Get Lucky 323 ( 35 - 16 ) We aren't quite done with the huge climbs as there's a couple more of them in this section. First, up 65 places, and as a representative of the good times that Kanye has had this year, it's his single featuring Rihanna (and other assorted stars) from 2011. I never thought it could get quite this high actually, it's a wonderful song but rap-verse femalepopstar-chorus songs have begun to get slammed a bit lately and everyone seems a lot more interested in Runaway. Well, that's clearly not the case as loads of you voted this one high, many top 10s and a 30 from newbie Norwich5. With Gold Digger moving on, Kanye does need a new track for people to love, maybe it is All Of The Lights. I do love his verses on it, very to the point and they flow well. I'm not quite sure what the error was that made Midnight City go all the way down to 44th instead of 17th last year but rest assured, we have corrected the problem and the indie-dance jam is back on track to complete its pattern and exit our minds in 2021 at a position of 31. I adore the synths on this one and it is one of those tracks I doubt I'll ever get tired of hearing, so I'm glad we keep it up this high year after year. It did get a top 10 from me and got plenty of others too, most of them 2nd or 3rd - that's another one that really relies on a few posters voting to keep it up so high. Talking of successor tracks with Kanye, it looks like Gimme More's application to succeed Toxic is doing very well indeed. Not quite up from where it was last year as I feared it might be (I don't hate it but I can really only shrug - and it obviously dropped from where it was earlier in the week as it got no points from the last 13 voters), it's obviously had a bit of a revival from its downward spiral it was having in its early scores and is now our Britney favourite. It got plenty of high scores from Britney fans, including 2 2nds and 2 3rds. And another big revival, in a year where it looked like most Coldplay songs were getting slammed. They lost loads of autoqualifiers this year and for the most part didn't do nearly as well as I predicted them to. But, as their now signature track, and their best, Viva La Vida defied the odds, picked itself up from its bad start and got loads and loads and loads of votes to see it shoot right up and into the top 20, back where it was when it first started... and in its third year. For comparison, it got merely 3 votes in the first half of the voting, all of them top 5s (including mine), and then got all the rest of its votes, including 7 more top 10s and a maximum from Bré in the second half. That is a fantastic result for Viva La Vida, may it live long in our memory. 2013 is the second year to leave us, with Daft Punk's Get Lucky being the biggest achiever of that year, up 19 places from its debut last time. It got a maximum from darkstar and a lot of love elsewhere from the more indie-dance bloc of the site, it is a really cool, timeless track and I'm not surprised it's the one from 2013 to have worn time the best for the second year. It's holding onto it after this where things get a bit more tricky.
August 27, 20159 yr 'Gimme More'. The other 4 tracks surrounding it are higher than they probably deserve, but I like them.
August 27, 20159 yr Oh nice rebound for Midnight City :o already a very respectable run for that. Get Lucky climbing is great too, sticking it to those filthy haters! Even though Gimme More is nothing special, I'm at least gonna be thankful it isn't Piece of Me up there :puke:
August 27, 20159 yr Author H8Qp38qT-xI BOboa27SHDE 15 29 2005 Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc 330 ( 40 - 136 - 89 - X - 59 - 11 - 35 - 33 - 29 - 15 ) 14 NE 2014 Katy B - Crying For No Reason 334 ( 14 ) 13 13 2007 Sugababes - About You Now 342 ( 24 - 9 - 9 - 21 - 56 - 27 - 13 - 13 ) 12 12 2007 Rihanna (feat. Jay-Z) - Umbrella 344 ( 5 - 2 - 3 - 7 - 28 - 34 - 12 - 12 ) 11 25 2005 Girls Aloud - Biology 346 ( 62 - 130 - 46 - 6 - 35 - 27 - 29 - 13 - 25 - 11 ) And... we've finally arrived at my 30-pointer - aka timeless song aka my second-favourite song ever (I think - it's definitely in my top 5). Which no-one shared with me, but plenty of you were good enough to give it high scores anyway and send Gorillaz' Feel Good Inc out on its second-highest score ever. :D Ever since that brief blip outside the top 200 in its fourth year it's been in the top 60 and for the most part has done satisfactorily enough. I was expecting another mid-30s result or worse, not a top 15. But it's happened and everyone who voted for it has my eternal gratitude. Goodbye Gorillaz, you've served ROTD very well unless I can finally get On Melancholy Hill into the 2010 final one of these days. I didn't call Crying For No Reason to do so well in the 2014 final. I certainly did not call it to be the highest new entry. We've still gone a couple of years without a new entry in the top 10 but it's a lot better than the highest new entry being as low as #31 last year. Crying For No Reason is a very lovely track from Katy B that hasn't taken very long to become one of our favourite songs of recent times. It does strike me as the sort of thing that may fall in future years but for now, let's enjoy that Katy B was the most loved track from last year overall. Completing a second set of non-movers in its run, the highest Sugababes track is again About You Now, as Push The Button has dropped out of our favour. It had two maximum scores from Mike Sugafan and Insomnio, and it is the first of the very strong 2007 pop top 5 that has dominated proceedings and make that our most 'classic' year left. The second is also a non-mover, the 10-week #1 Umbrella and Rihanna's huge breakthrough track. It used to be top 10 but seems unable to do that anymore. It got one 30, that of Jack's, before settling ahead of Sugababes again. And finally, the second-last Girls Aloud track. Biology is a lovely little pop track and one of the very good GA tracks. So I'm happy it's this high. It's been pretty up and down but exits the game on one of its highest ever positions, its second highest, 5 places behind its only top 10 several years ago. It had Aled's top score, and loads of other good scores, as would befit a track just below the top 10.
August 27, 20159 yr Author Which of course leaves just our top 10. Which I shall count down tomorrow evening. I'll post them in alphabetical order in case anyone wants to make predictions and the like. Amy Winehouse - Back To Black Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor Girls Aloud - Call The Shots Lady Gaga - Bad Romance Loreen - Euphoria M.I.A - Paper Planes Madonna - Hung Up Rihanna (feat. Calvin Harris) - We Found Love Robyn - Dancing On My Own Robyn - With Every Heartbeat
August 27, 20159 yr I remember when Black Parade wasn't even close to AQing for the next year's round, never would've thought it would get this high :o Guess we've all had a gradual taste transplant, definitely an all time favourite for me too <3Â Great for Galvanize, Midnight City, Get Lucky, Viva La Vida and Feel Good Inc. too (and Bleeding Love going in the right direction) :D Most of my top scorers are out now, but they have done a lot better than I thought they would! Edited August 27, 20159 yr by Chez Wombat
August 27, 20159 yr Wow that's a pretty poor top 10 on the whole :/ only say I like about 3/4 songs there! Euphoria is on another level entirely so gunning for that to win.
August 27, 20159 yr Amazing debuts for blank space and crying for no reason and yay for biology and since u been gone doing well also
August 27, 20159 yr Wow, excellent debut for Katy B! Final climbs for Biology and Feel Good Inc are great to see Some of those Top 10 finishers are fairly interesting and a tad unexpected (but also really good!), I'll get around to commenting on them once they're announced though For a T10 prediction, I shall take a wild stab in the dark~ 1 Bad Romance 2 We Found Love 3 Hung Up 4 Euphoria 5 Back To Black 6 With Every Heartbeat 7 Call the Shots 8 Dancing On My Own 9 Paper Planes 10 I Bet You Look Good... Â
August 27, 20159 yr would love it if We Found Love could finally win this but I imagine it'll be Bad Romance... again
August 27, 20159 yr Robyn coming for that 1-2 finish *.*Â Well maybe not but I'm delighted that she's managed two top 10s again.
August 28, 20159 yr Please, just anything apart from Robyn to win, I'm so :/ that she even has two songs in the top 10.
August 28, 20159 yr I'm so annoyed I didn't get chance to vote. (Stupid holiday) Majorrrrrr Stanning for Losing You :cheer: perfect slice of pop, funk, electronic, soul and everything else thrown in there. A total delight.  Not majorly shocked at many results. My top 3 would be Dancing On My Own, Euphoria, I Bet... I think the top 3 would be Bad Romance (it's totally justified, it's a superb pop record), With every heartbeat and we found love. When will people learn Biology > Call The Shots.
August 28, 20159 yr Author QPWUyAZZfK0 10 41 2007 Girls Aloud - Call The Shots 350 ( 30 - 10 - 16 - 17 - 55 - 11 - 41 - 10 ) Turns out that keeping Girls Aloud out of the top 10 was... Girls Aloud. Rebounding from a pretty dreadful score last year back to its peak, Call The Shots does seem to like doing that, it's a pretty wonderful song that is quite deservedly often recognised as one of GA's best crossover hits, I slightly prefer Biology but eh, the difference is so minimal for me I'd be happy either way round. I mean, Bré stans it and you don't get that much more crossover (although that may just be a bit of a random quirk of the universe). Along with Bré, 9 other people put it in their personal top 10, but no one made it their favourite, the closest being Vulker and luna who put it 2nd. Either way, a good start to the top 10, let's hope it remains this good, and a farewell to Girls Aloud for this year's competition.
August 28, 20159 yr Call The Shots is one of their weakest tracks IMO, Biology should certainly be above it.
August 28, 20159 yr Author ewRjZoRtu0YÂ 9 28 2008 M.I.A - Paper Planes 359 ( X - X - 52 - 36 - 44 - 28 - 9 )Â Well, it looks like Paper Planes is, from its run, the 'shock' top 10 this year. Given it's the one I voted the highest, I'd say I'm very happy with that. It's also the highest entry from 2008, the highest rap track, and... of course the most important stat, the highest entry formerly in BJSC (to be fair though, that was in the contest's formative years and if you want to discount this, then second highest is 212, coincidentally the second-highest female rap track). Its continual climb over the last few years is something very pleasing to see, I've been loving this as one of my favourite 'on-its-way-to-becoming-a-classic' tracks over the past few years, it's so clever and fun. As well as me and a maximum from Seven, it got 6 more top 10s, so not as many as Call The Shots but still a fair few.
