So kicking things off we have no major shocks with 3 urban tracks & a completely forgettable charity single finishing bottom of the pack. For what it's worth, all bar the Gary Barlow track in this section are complete jams in my humble opinion.

Jessie J, who finished in the top 5 in the Now 81 Rate, finishes at the other end this time with Laserlight. Other predictable early fallers include a risqué summer bop, typical boyband output & a ballad which has been covered to death. Oliver Twist has the distinction of being the most diversive song of the edition with six 10's and six 0's as well as its one -1 score.

Screw you guys, Oliver Twist is a masterpiece

(at least it finished above the horror that is LaserLight)

Not surprised at any of these results atm, tbh.

I'd have liked to have seen the Sway track just a couple of places higher and Jason Mraz in the top 20, but as I said, I really wasn't expecting it to do much at all. 'Laserlight' is kind of shocking as I always thought it was approved here on BJ? Or at least that's what it seemed at the time of the release... It's a shame that isn't slightly higher either. But tbh, they should have used the other David & Jessie track 'Repeat'!

Screw you guys, Oliver Twist is a masterpiece

Took the words right out of my mouth...

Level Up is great too, pretty forgotten now though.

Cover Drive couldn't match their high finish for Twilight with their follow up hit. The rest of this section is an all-male affair including Maroon 5's only UK #1 to date and one of Ed Sheeran's less memorable efforts.

'Small Bump' was such a bizarre choice as a single. So dull!

'Payphone' is far too under appreciated. I mean, it's not my fave by them, but it's definitely not as bad as BJ seem to think it is. 'So Good' is also... "so good"! That should've been top 10.

The mini-battle between Maynard & Bieber is won by the former but both manage the top 30. One of Calvin's less popular tracks here (as proven by the current Leave Favourite polls) carries that through in this rate finishing in the bottom half.

The Wanted can only make #25 despite six 10's and only one 0. Elsewhere in this section we have a mix of genres including two UK #1's, one of which in Tulisa just misses out on the top 20. Exactly half of the songs in this edition managed an average score above 6.

Usual high performers in these rates Katy Perry & The Saturdays both bow out in this section, with arguably (or seemingly here) weak tracks of their discography. The other 3 songs are male/female collaborations, 2 of which I love & 1 I utterly loathe...

iLL Manors is probably my song of the decade so far... what a powerful song that got everybody talking at the time!

Even now, the message of the song resonates and holds true.

Gutted. For the second time in three rates, my personal favourite on the album narrowly misses the top 10 (despite picking up four 11's) :( another unlucky song is Only The Horses which also misses out despite not receiving a single score lower than a 3 and only two below a 5. Rounding off the 15 is Coldplay/Rihanna (the latter with still another track to feature), Stooshe & Alex Clare - these two very much acts of that time.

After all this we're left with a top 10 of: Call Me Maybe, Call My Name, Euphoria, Feel The Love, Hot Right Now, Picking Up The Pieces, Primadonna, Starships, We Are Young & Where Have You Been. Feel free to speculate!

'212' is awful. I really hate how much it's loved, not just on here, but in general. It's just noise. 'Part Of Me' is weak by Katy's usually high standards. '30 Days' is a track that I always forget just how much I love it until I listen to it. Nice song by them. 'iLL Manors' is awful. Doesn't matter about the message, the song is still shit.

'R.I.P.' is a genuine jam. I really love it and it's definitely one of my Rita essentials! 'My Kind Of Love' is nice and 'Turn Me On' got old for me, but it's good. Everything else ('Chasing The Sun' & 'Young' in particular) are not really going to be missed and should perhaps have been eliminated sooner.

EDIT: EEK. Not including that last section!

#11-#15

All of them are deserving of being as high as they are. Would have been nice to have seen Stooshe make the top 10 though. 'Black Heart' still sounds great!

^^ Sorry, I don't know you. -_-

Where Have You Been was incredibly lucky to make the top 10, only climbing there after the final rate was cast. Nevertheless Rihanna features here once again. Starships, recently voted BJ's second favourite ever Nicki Minaj track, lands one place above in ninth.

Plenty of dance finishing high up in this edition including the second and third tracks on CD 2. Hot Right Now managed to avoid picking up any 1's or 0's on its way to sixth place, while Cheryl's #1 Call My Name begins the top 5 but does finish a long, long way off the top 4...

Summer anthem Feel The Love manages a very respectable fourth with a score high enough to have won many of these rates. Primadonna goes one better to nab a podium place, not receiving a single score lower than 4.

Which leaves us with quite the battle between: Call Me Maybe Vs. Euphoria - who will come out on top?
