September 24, 20159 yr This is a damn mess and not even worthy of a mention in the same breath as Chandelier! And I don't even love Chandelier that much!
September 24, 20159 yr First single from Australian singer's new album 'This Is Acting' originally written for Adele Sia unleashes an devastating, electrifying vocal performance on her rousing new ballad, "Alive," the first single from her upcoming album, This Is Acting.
September 24, 20159 yr There's already a thread for this! ^_^ http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=182152
September 25, 20159 yr Yeah, much like the first time I listened to Chandelier, I couldn't even get to end of that song for the awful voice cracks. The song itself is decent, like 'Ghost' without a properly good hook but her voice just destroys it. Why does she even do that?!

When I heard it, my initial thoughts were Rob is going to be majorly pissed off about the voice breaks.
September 25, 20159 yr So she wrote it with Adele in mind... Rihanna wanted it then rejected then Adele wanted it... But Sia declined? What??? Someone hell me out here.
September 25, 20159 yr So she wrote it with Adele in mind... Rihanna wanted it then rejected then Adele wanted it... But Sia declined? What??? Someone hell me out here. I read that too, but on the Ryan Seacrest interview she said that she wrote it with Adele, for Adele, but then Adele didn't want it as it sounded too much like a Sia song. So Sia recorded the vocal, sent it to others (like Rihanna) who didn't want it, so Sia kept it for herself.... I think.
September 25, 20159 yr Author Eh it's ok. Her voice is very annoying on this though, I adore Chandelier because I feel like her voice fits on that but it doesn't fit on this imo.... It definitely would have been better off being sang by Adele.
September 25, 20159 yr Can't decide if I like this or not, I think her voice sounds impressive, it sort of makes me tingle but then so does scraping your knife on a plate and that's not so good, I think I'd prefer it if she pulled it in a bit more but still sounding very big which is what she does best I think.
September 25, 20159 yr If she's singing it from Adele's perspective, maybe that's how she interprets Adele's vocal technique?
September 25, 20159 yr That's a bit far-fetched  If anything she needs to reign it in to imitate Adele's vocal technique!
September 25, 20159 yr This song is by far much more instant than "Chandelier" which most definitely took a good 10+ spins for me to fully get it. The chorus is incredibly catchy and I certainly don't mind a pop song having a repetitive chorus at all!
September 27, 20159 yr 3:35 to 3:55 is quite painful to listen to, she could have ramped up the backing vox and added something a bit more subtle before the chorus came back in. (everything either said of those 20 secs is pretty fine and d* tho) Edited September 27, 20159 yr by dandystar
