'Through The Rain' fought its way into Round 7 via a tiebreaker round with 'I Don't Wanna Cry', but promptly leaves in this round anyway! This was the first single lifted from Mariah's 2002 album 'Charmbracelet'. It became her least successful lead single up to that point when it peaked at a lowly #81 in the US, however it performed a lot better in other territories, including in the UK where it reached #8. The lyrics are said to be an insight into Mariah's personal struggles throughout 2001, and critics deemed the song's message as "inspirational".

 

 

25 Love Takes Time (6 votes, 11.54%)

 

After the worldwide success of Mariah's debut single 'Vision of Love', 'Love Takes Time' was chosen as its follow-up. Unfortunately it failed to make much of an impact worldwide (for instance it scraped the Top 40 in the UK, compared to the Top 10 success of 'Vision of Love'). However the US & Canada stayed faithful to the newcomer, where 'Love Takes Time' peaked at #1 and #2 respectively. The track was a very late addition to her debut album - Mariah wanted to save the song for her next record, but her team was insistent that the song was a "career-maker" and had to be included - despite the fact the rest of the album was being mastered.
