I thought that was a pretty good performance form her? She was in tune, you could hear her.....what do people expect when someone is singing a ballad?

Well said. She can be bad live but credit where it's due cause she was perfectly good last night.

The boost on iTunes for LMLYD is waaaay more than any Strictly boost I've seen this year so let's not belittle it because it's not shot back to #1. It tends to benefit the album chart more.

Adam Lambert and Will Young both got to low #60's from nowhere, she got to #55 in the finale... its no biggy :P

...anyways on topic please everyone :arrr:

Let the mods do their job, no need for such comments ;) And anyway a little off topic discussion is no harm while we're waiting for data to come in :D

If the NHS Choir is no1 in tomorrow's update there could be media hype which would help it gain more sales!

But wont help streams, which is ultimately why the Choir wont get to number 1

The NHS choir are still ahead, with a reduced lead, in today's update. However, it is still based on sales only, so isn't very accurate.

The good news is that they have confirmed that we will get a full update tomorrow.

Not exactly it says it is combined:

"The NHS Choir continues to lead way in the race for this year's Christmas Number 1, Official Charts can confirm.

The race is far from over yet though, as their lead on yesterday's update over Justin Bieber's Love Yourself (which was based on sales only) has reduced to just over 2,000 combined sales and streams."

But I'm pretty sure there are some streaming data still missing (as always in the early days)

Not much info but someone asked Mint Royale on Twitter was asked if Adele would pass 400k this week and he said unlikely!
they say nhs choir is leading on combined sales and streams

Did you read my comment two posts above yours?

Oh yes, I misread it  I'm sure you're right to assume that some streaming data is missing. I'd be surprised if the NHS Choir are ahead on the complete figures.

You're welcome

Surely in the update tomorrow Bieber will be at least 5000 ahead

I'd assume Bieber will be at least 10k ahead tomorrow given he is streaming 500k per day and NHS very little, and Itunes has been pretty neck and neck over the last 2 days.

So random question as I don't know how it work Do artists and their record company's get paid for streaming? Beiber has loads of streams as does Adele

I assume the only revenue they would get from it is probably a small amount from adverts on the streaming site.

Streams are free so I'm not sure how they could get paid otherwise

That's not true, they get royalties after every streamed song, of course not much after 1 listen. Plus not all streams are free, there are paid subscriptions. From the free services of Spotify the royalties would be paid from the revenue of the adverts.

Of course only from legal services like Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer etc.

Yeah I know, but I mean that the royalty money which is given to the artist is surely generated from ad revenue?

AND paid subscriptions as I mentioned before.

Apple Music is for example not free, only the first 3 months and only for new subscribers.
