The New Classic sold ~50k in 2014, so has managed a somewhat surprisingly little 10k since.

Right?! I know the repack Reclassified prob stole a lot of sales especially after Trouble became a hit in the UK but still, The New Classic also had decent streams if I remember correctly? Still weird to me but at least it finally got a certification.

Impressive for 'Back in Black' considering its first ever chart appearance in the whole of the Top 200 was in December 2012, when AC/DC's back catalogue was added to iTunes, and it charted at #27. I'm guessing it will have been available to buy on other sites but the majority of its sales (and later streams) will have been since that date.

'Highway to Hell' reached #59 in 1979, a live version peaked at #14 in 1992, re-entered due to the iTunes add at #40, before peaking at #4 in Christmas Week 2013 due to a #1 campaign (when it sold 43k in that week). I'm guessing it has sold ~250k in total.

'Right Now (Na Na Na)' sold 319k by the end of 2009, so has managed 81k in just over 6 years.

As I predicted a few weeks ago, 'Space Bound' passes 200k, Eminem's 28th single to do so.

Didn't realise 'Pumped Up Kicks' had sold so much, but it did manage 225k in 2011 and 150k in 2012 (375k in total) so 225k since, so ~70k+ in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Again, surprised at the sales for 'Hold You', but it did have a total of 212k by the end of 2011, so 188k since.

'Empire' sold 91k in 2006, meaning 109k since. It had a sales total of 170k in June 2014 and 190k in January 2016.

Curtis sold 192k in 2007, meaning 108k since.

There is a Hell... had a total of 54k when That's the Spirit! was released September, meaning ~200 copies sold per week for the past 26 weeks since.

Fantastic to see 'Hold You' continue to sell so well. Love that song.
David Bowie - Space Oddity - Gold - Released: 1969

Would I be right in thinking that this is just the sales of the 1999 remaster, rather than every sale since 1994? It just occurred to me that 'Let's Dance' got a Silver certification in 2013 for its own 1999 remaster, despite the fact the album already had a Platinum certification from little over 30 years beforehand...

'Dreams' is the fourth Fleetwood Mac song to reach Silver status in the download era, after 'Go Your Own Way', 'The Chain' and 'Everywhere'. Back in January 2013, 'Little Lies' was also in the Top 5 of their most downloaded tracks, ahead of 'Dreams', so I'm guessing it can't be far from Silver either. I have no idea what 70s are like but I'm guessing the overall total of 'Go Your Own Way' is 410k-420k and 'Dreams' is 230k-240k.

'Birthday Sex' was on 94k at the end of 2009, meaning 106k since.

'SexyBack' sold 296k at the end of 2007, meaning 304k since. It had already passed the 400k mark by July 2013.

'Same Love' sold 272k by the end of 2013, meaning 128k since.

'Just Like a Pill' sold 192k in 2002, meaning 208k in downloads/streams.

'My Girl' had one week at #43 in 1965, hit #92 in 1986, before finally becoming a success in 1992 when it reached #2. It managed 268k in 1992 so had overall sales of 468k at the bare minimum.

The Fetty Wap album will have likely benefited quite a lot by streaming. It's a similar situation in the US I believe, where I recall that it wouldn't have even gone to number one without streams.

Still, I have no issue with it going Silver as it's a surprisingly decent album.

There were some more certifications on Tuesday. Purpose and All of Me both went 3x Platinum, Lush Life went Platinum and Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware went Silver

Thanks for mentioning, I'm guessing those are the ones that didn't quite make the mark for the early certifications update on Thursday but did by Friday.

I'll add them to the original post in a sec!

Ohhh fantastic for Jessie Ware. So great to see her have her first/only single certification.

'Count On Me' sold 126k in 2013, meaning 74k since.

'Say You Love Me' sold about 75-80k in 2014, meaning ~120k since.

At a guess, 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' sold about 150k in 1987, meaning 350k in total.

'Ugly Heart' sold 258k in 2014, meaning 142k since.

At a guess, 'Never Too Much' sold 100k in the 80s, meaning 300k in total

'Can We Dance' sold 238k in 2013, meaning 162k since.

'My Love is Your Love' sold 494k in 1999, meaning 107k since. I imagine 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay' isn't far off Platinum either.

Yay for little mix

Yes, but only just - Bon Jovi's Greatest Hits which charted the week before is approaching 1m sales.

Work From Home, Ugly Heart, Secret Love Song, Cheap Thrills & Glitterball

Shocked Ugly Heart has done another +140k in the last year in a bit :o Great to see as it is easily one of my favourite songs of the past few years

Great week for certifications - Bittersweet for G.R.L though, if it wasn't for the tragic circumstances I really think they could have been huge

Various Artists - Throwback Slow Jamz - Gold - Released: 2016

'I Want It That Way' sold 423k in 1999, meaning 177k on downloads/streams.

'Demons' sold 353k by the end of 2014, meaning 247k since.

'Birthday' becomes Katy Perry's 16th certified single. Those without a certification are 'Thinking of You', 'Unconditionally' and 'This is How We Do'.

'Work' becomes Rihanna's 15th Platinum single, joining 'Umbrella', 'Rude Boy', 'Only Girl', 'What's My Name?', 'S&M', 'We Found Love', 'Princess of China', 'Diamonds', 'Stay', 'FourFiveSeconds', 'Love the Way You Lie', 'Who's That Chick?', 'Take Care' and 'The Monster'. Ones to watch out for are 'Disturbia', 'Russian Roulette', 'Take a Bow', 'Where Have You Been', 'Don't Stop the Music' and 'Live Your Life' which are likely to hit the mark too.

'Voodoo People / Out of Space' failed to reach the Top 250 in 2005, meaning less than 24k sold. The OCC site includes the chart run for this mash-up under the original 'Voodoo People', so there's a chance sales for that (#13 in 1994) are included, but then the chart run on UKMIX (which does not combine the chart runs) shows that the 2005 mash-up made the charts in succeeding years, so it is a good trickle seller anyway. So I'm not too sure what sales make up this certification (although it's worth mentioning the BPI site does say the release date was 2005, but they have been wrong before).

This Is It sold 541k by the end of 2010 (464k in 2009; 77k in 2010), meaning 59k since.
