Andra Chansen potentials

Here is a selection of our favourite flops from over the years. Which would you like to see represent South Danaelanda in Andra Chansen?

Aside, just because one of these is in my considerations doesn't mean you should be put off sending it, I'd like to see as many of these in as possible.

Kris Menace - Waiting For You (feat. Black Hills) [Jamvale 63, 22nd]

Jessica 6 - Down Low [D'yermak'er 77, 24th]

Ferreck Dawn - Heaven Sent [Ethanola 77, 26th]

David Vrong - Reflection [Ethanola 78, 40th]

Sasha - Xpander [Cumulonimbia 82, 34th]

Møme - Aloha (feat. Merryn Jeann) [Kluminican Republic 82, 41st]

Konstantin Sibold - Mutter [Ethanola 86, 35th]

Perttu - Waves (feat. Alexandra) [Greenfroze 88, 30th]

Salvatore Ganacci - Dive (feat. Enya, Alex Aris) [Dobago 89, 38th]

The Age Of Love - The Age Of Love (Jam & Spoon Watch Out For Stella Mix) [bøtanikkä 92, 27th]

Toddla T - Beast (feat. Andrea Martin, Stefflon Don) [Thelonia 94, 41st]

oh god anything but mutter. I’m having war flashbacks

preferably Heaven Sent bc that’s my fave out of all of those but I wouldn’t be too averse on Aloha.

SOUTH DANAELANDA presents for BJSC 101...

DARREN STYLES and STONEBANK featuring EMEL

"SKY IS FALLING"

COMMENTARY
For this contest we resurrect Darren Styles of Styles & Breeze fame and also of NOW! 70 fame for Ultrabeat collab 'Discolights'. He teams up with fellow hard dance producer Stonebank and his frequent collaborator EMEL on record label Monstercat (the same label that gave us a win in 'Saving Light') for a banging tune in 'Sky Is Falling', and perhaps one that is harder sounding than most other South Danaelandan entries. But who says we don't ever start the year off with a bang? Take a listen for yourself.

LYRICS
[Verse 1: EMEL]
Fallen trees, it's hard to breathe
But I will keep fighting
Broken walls, nowhere to fall
But I will keep climbing

[Pre-Chorus: EMEL]
I can't see, I'm in the dark
Surrounded by sharks
Becloud over me
I can't see, I'm in the dark
Surrounded by sharks
Becloud over me

[Chorus: EMEL]
Just take me home, just take me home
Now the sky is falling
Don't let it fall, don't let me go
Now the sky is falling
Down, down, down, down, down on me
Down, down, down, down, down on me

[Pre-Drop]
The sky is falling (falling, falling)

[Drop]

[Pre-Chorus: EMEL]
I can't see, I'm in the dark
Surrounded by sharks
Becloud over me
I can't see, I'm in the dark
Surrounded by sharks
Becloud over me

[Chorus: EMEL]
Now the sky is falling
Down, down, down, down, down on me
Down, down, down, down, down on me

[Drop]

[Outro]
(Now that the sky is falling)

SOUTH DANAELANDA presents for Worldvision III...

CRUX

"EPIPHANY"

COMMENTARY
We were given the task of finding an act from Malta to represent us in the third Worldvision, having previously chosen from Indonesia and Belarus we are yet to score a country that we would typically send from such as the United Kingdom or Netherlands. But Malta's close enough to the former with them being one of the few countries we can still expect Eurovision points from. For this entry we send synth pop instrumental track 'Epiphany' by a band going by the name Crux. It is considerably less known than most entries we normally send, with just over 10k YouTube views and a thousand Spotify plays. It's nothing like anything we've sent before but Worldvision is the perfect opportunity for us to experiment a bit.
That BJSC 101 entry sounds very good, although not as good as You're Shining or Heartbeatz, but then they are two classics that would be difficult to better! I knew Darren Styles was now on the Monstercat label and still producing songs as I was browsing the Monstercat youtube channel a while ago.

Really like this, as I said on ur chart a few weeks ago lol, been listening to it quite a bit recently

Falling into the final...

Kenny the koala approves

yes I realise this rhymes with our last entry 'The Calling'. perhaps our next entry will contain the word 'balling' or (for the haterz) 'appalling'.

After a tense semi-final results reveal from hosting nation Aeroche we were the final nation in semi one to be announced as qualifiers with our entry 'Sky Is Falling'. It becomes our first qualifier of 2018, and if you'd like to see it become our first top ten hit of the year too then make sure to...

CRUX

"EPIPHANY"

1ST • 216 POINTS

COMMENTARY
We start our year off with a bang, winning the much-hyped third edition of Worldvision which came back this January after taking a fallow year. With 216 points scored, Maltese band Crux with 'Epiphany' which represented us was the clear winner. It becomes our second spin-off winner, following FM-84's Masquerade win last year, and third if you count Gareth Emery winning TBO as a spin-off too.

Our votes were as follows, with former Danaelandan entrant 4 Strings unsurprisingly scoring top marks from the mobile app voting public:
18 ⧟ Rolloland . 4 Strings & Fridolijn - What Matters Most (The Netherlands)
15 ⧟ Alteria . Gromee ft. Lukas Meijer - Without You (Poland)
13 ⧟ Bøtanikkä . Akcent Feat. Amira - Push (Romania)
12 ⧟ Skall . Cut Copy - Hearts On Fire (Australia)
11 ⧟ Trifoski . Las Bistecs - Historia Del Arte (Spain)
10 ⧟ Dobago . DJ Pantelis (feat. Zara) - Dle Yaman (Greece)
09 ⧟ Cadelicia . GusGus - Airwaves (Iceland)
08 ⧟ Cor Lupus . Ekala - Endless Dreams (Georgia)
07 ⧟ Taahino . Anis Don Demina - On My Mind (Sweden)
06 ⧟ Land of DW . Papi Hans - Keks (Bulgaria)
05 ⧟ Pupok . LITTLE BIG - Lollybomb (Russia)
04 ⧟ Persephonia . Flux Capacitor - Argo (Austria)
03 ⧟ Quintessa . Damir Ludvig - Things (feat. Ivana Masic) (Croatia)
02 ⧟ Aeroche . Aethek - 2501 (Bosnia & Herzegovina)
01 ⧟ New Lexico . GEZZA - Fall In Love (Luxembourg)

Crux will be supporting Darren Styles & Stonebank on their promo tour of 'Sky Is Falling', which you can now vote for in the BJSC 101 final.
Congrats Dan!! 'Epiphany' was incredibly up my street, so you pointing it out as something I'd like was definitely bang on haha. I have now given you 3 18s in spinoffs following 'Running In The Night' and 'Your Love' :o so yeah you've been killing it in spinoffs for the past year, g'won *.*

"SKY IS FALLING"

24TH • 162 POINTS

COMMENTARY
We start the year off in the main contest with a respectable showing at 24th for 'Sky Is Falling', not bad for a hard trance song and already off to a better start than we had last year when Aly & Fila finished in 32nd. Coincidentally they were sent to this contest under Terra Avium and this time around finished 22nd with Aly & Fila 'Quiet Storm', with 15 points coming from us. Our 18 points went to Trifoski whose 'Ghost Voices' by Virtual Self (Porter Robinson) finished in 4th. The overall winner, 'Sofia' by Alvaro Soler representing Republique d'Ashton and giving them a long overdue second main contest victory did not receive any points from us but it ranked the highest of the contest's top three, in 18th, so we're happy about that. Land of DW finished in 2nd (26th in our ranking) with Betta Lemme 'Bambola' giving them a new career peak and Taahino in 3rd (22nd in our ranking) with Hayley Kiyoko 'Curious' giving them an overdue first top ten hit, let alone top three. Niceland also had a career best finishing in 5th with Shanguy 'La Louze', which we scored 12 points (though it would have finished 5th regardless). Our 13 points went to Aeroche which directly helped them score yet another top 10 hit with CANVAS 'Another Time' (Remix) which finished in ninth. The remaining songs in the top 10 that we gave points to was Irma Thomas 'Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand)' (6 points) which finished in 7th for St. Burbia and Hoàng Thùy Linh 'Bánh Trôi Nước' (3 points) which placed 6th for Lotunia (a career best and first top 10). A special mention goes to Cowtermont who were cruelly robbed of a decent position, but our 10 points at least helped them avoid last and get to (exactly) 100 points, finishing two points ahead of Singerpurear who add another wooden spoon to their collection {edit: they actually do not, following the non-voting point deduction for Republic Of Adonia}. Other songs we loved include the entries from Bøtanikkä (11 points) and Thelonia (9 points) which finished in 18th and 26th respectively, a higher placing than widely expected for the latter particularly and a victory for the #endtheloniaracism campaign.

We now look forward to BJSC 102 hosted in the Grande Republique. An entry will soon be selected behind closed doors, as for what it is, not even I know at the moment.
