TBO XIII: Adriatique & Marino Canal - Home (feat. Delhia De France)

TBO season is already upon us which means it is time to demand justice for our most underserved Flop of the year, which in this case also happens to be our most recent entry.

If you would like to have this aural perfection have another chance of being somewhat of a hit and follow Riot's 'Overkill' from last year, then make sure to Vote Danæviia.

TBO XIII: Adriatique & Marino Canal - Home (feat. Delhia De France)

It recently got announced that we had QUALIFIED to the next stage of TBO with our unjust Flop 'Home'. If you would like to find a "home" for this in the next stage of the contest, then make sure to Vote Danæviia.

TBO XIII: Aly & Fila with Plumb - Somebody Loves You

The Quarter Finals of TBO are also joined by our biggest hit of the year, the top 10 smash 'Somebody Loves You'. If somebody reading this loves this entry and would like to see it progress to the semi-final, then make sure to Vote Danæviia.

BJSC 131: Worakls & Rusanda Panfili - Storm

Worakls – Storm (with Rusanda Panfili) is a rare collaborative effort between two extremely eminent musicians. Worakls is an anomaly in electronic music. His orchestral compositions are second to none. However, producing great Techno is also in his wheelhouse. Rusanda Panfili, on the other hand, was a prodigal violinist as a child. She won her first international competition aged 10 and has since worked with symphonic orchestras across the globe. She’s also worked with musical legends such as Hans Zimmer, Brian May and many more. There is a crossover in terms of Worakls‘ and Rusanda Panfili‘s skills and interests. This is what makes their collaboration so exciting. Worakls – Storm is out now on Sonate Records, a new creation from Worakls. The label looks like it will be catering to more Orchestral Melodic House & Techno in the future.

This track comes hot on the trail of Ben Bohmer’s remix of ‘Red Dressed’ by Worakls. ‘Storm’, similarly, has some of the ingredients of a House track, but with Panfili’s violin center stage. The track definitely lives up to its name. You’re met with a menacing violin ostinato, combined with an equally menacing synth line. These erupt into a pounding four-to-the-floor kick with some pizzicato strings. The tension builds and different strings are layered on top of one another. This creates some rich symphonic timbres. The beat then gives way to the heart-wrenching bow work of Rusanda Panfili. This sublime interweaving of Orchestral Melodic House & Techno shows off their virtuosic musicianship. Both the composition and the technical execution on Worakls – Storm are excellent.

Sonate Records is the second label that Worakls has started. The other is Hungry Music, started in 2013. Sonate Records was created, presumably, to fill the gaps that his other label doesn’t fill. We expect it to be a huge success in 2021. This isn’t only because of Worakls‘ previous success with Hungry Music. It’s also because this, the debut track Worakls – Storm, is just so perfect.

You may remember Worakls from his Club Bizarre victory and previous BJSC top 10 hit. He is now back with his best piece of work yet which we hope will start 2021 in a big way for our nation. If you enjoy the song, then make sure we can storm the BJSC final by finding some Points for us.

Vote Danæviia. :cheer:

: Worakls & Rusanda Panfili - Storm | [01/42 (325) / 01/31 (104)]

For the third time in the nation's history, Danæviia have officially won the BJSC with "Storm"!! The entry had a convincing victory landing 21 points ahead of Summericia who finished in 2nd. It follows our wins in BJSC 92 and 113 meaning our wins continue to be roughly two years apart. With a runtime of 7 minutes, it also is what I believe the 3rd-longest behind 'Free Tibet' and 'Emerald Princess', and also joins an exclusive club of instrumental winners. It is also our 2nd-best performing entry of all time, finishing with 5 points more than 'Emerald Princess'. 'Saving Light' with its 369 points still remains by some distance our best performer. Completing our top five are our two other medalists - 'Monody' and 'Gregory's Theme' which both finished in 3rd meaning a runner-up still eludes us (but we'll more than happily take another win over a 2nd place). The track is also our landmark 15th appearance in the top 10 and is our first since 'Somebody Loves You' finished in 10th two contests ago (a song which is now in the TBO XIII Finale). The pressure is now on to follow up the win with another top ten as we have done on both previous occasions.

As always, all our entries stats can be found in the OP.

Our entry this month is, literally, the calm after the storm!

BJSC 132: SF DRAW

The list has been signed off by the BJSC Mods. We have 65 confirmations this month which means there will be one AQ and 32 entries in each semi. 20 of each will make it through to the grand finale. Which one song has the honour of making it through without going through the process?

We start off with, of course, the hosting nation - Danæviia! We have gone for a lush electronica meets classical piano instrumental piece, the perfect compliment to our winning entry from last month that we hope gets a few fans. We will be getting an automatic pass to the final but don't forget to give our entry a listen to during this week to familiarise yourselves with it.

AQ :: Danæviia :: Grandbrothers – What We See

Grandbrothers are Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel. After meeting at university in Dusseldorf, Erol and Lukas formed Grandbrothers to tie together their respective musical backgrounds and disciplines: Erol is a trained jazz pianist, while Lukas constructs synthesizers at Access Music. Together, they create a sound that combines classical composition with modern, experimental production and sound design.

1st appearance

Absolutely loving this at the moment, their album is amazing as well. It's an AQ - but Don't wait for the final, go check the song out!

Greetings Danæviia! :hi:

First, let me just say what a stellar job you did tonight with the reveals ceremony, it was such a great experience to watch and discover what others had sent, and the presentation was spot on, thank you for all your effort with that! ^_^ I am now listening to the host’s entry and I can see this is very different to what I was expecting, but a calm after the storm might be just right, and as a lover of chillout music this is something quite lovely. I like the pace of the song and it’s subtle variance of piano and other beats, it’s a good combination indeed! I wonder how many other instrumental songs there are in this contest. I hope it can do well, and gain some traction amongst other nations.

Wishing you a stress-free contest as the host nation, but also wishing you an enjoyable and prosperous 132nd contest! Good luck from Zanmatony!

: Grandbrothers - What We See | [16/41 (206) / AUTOQUALIFIED]

Following Danæviia's third win we took on the hosting job and were awarded with an Autoqualifier. Once again however it seemed that we'd have been likely to get past the semi process with this entry however as we got another top 20 hit out of it. Our two previous AQs finished top 10, so this does end that streak however we are pleased with top 20 for this anyhow. It is also our 6th appearance in the top 20 in the past 7 contests amazingly (broken up by one DNQ).

As always, all our entries stats can be found in the OP.

BJSC 133: Felon (feat. EKE) - Fine Lines

From the dreamy, vocal-led intro to the brisk beats and effervescent piano chords, Felon’s ‘Fine Lines’ sketches out the foundation of a phenomenal listening experience. Featuring EKE, this record expertly underlines what we already know: that Felon’s production capabilities are out of this world.

This month we are going back to our roots with a big commercial house banger! We feel that this one has a bit more to it than many of the similar tracks in the actual chart though. Felon are British house group of Archie Ward, George Renwick and James Levey signed to Armada Music.

If you enjoy the track then don't forget... Vote Danæviia. :cheer:

longer than me it seems going by your PC, but soon as it belatedly appeared in my release radar it was instant love. let's hope it can be a third consecutive top 20!

This is a bop! Could see this being a hit on the nightime radio stations! :music:

Also  at Apathy coming 16th in your votes last month!

  • Author

unfortunately for you it was a very strong contest last month, I suspect Apathy would've had points if you entered it this month instead.

glad you are liking Fine Lines anyhow! it does sound like it'd fit well on Capital/Kiss at night maybe moreso than Radio 1.

anyhow, we are of course in the final now, yay!

it's been so long that I forgot they were sent into BJFest! this one is easily a standout of their material for me so far anyhow.

Our 2021 continues to go amazingly with a third consecutive top 20, and a return to the top 10 as Felon gives us a 7th placer. It means we have now finished in every top 10 position excluding 2nd in a main contest.

BJSC 134: Attlas & Colleen D'Agostino - Feels Like

As we reach the penultimate entry before Danaeviia's 10th anniversary - alongside the forthcoming 100th entry in BJSC 138, we will be welcoming back Colleen D'Agostino to the Danævii shores. Having previously represented us 6 years ago with the deadmau5-produced "Stay", she gave us our first Top 5 hit in the contest having finished in 4th (she would later go on to win for Aeroche). So it feels like the perfect time to bring her back this time alongside the Canadian producer Attlas for "Feels Like", a track released as part of deadmau5' label compilation We Are Friends X. It is a great melodic / progressive track with lush synths and vocals throughout. We very nearly sent this last month which would've given us the coincidence of having an Attlas and an "Atlas" in the same contest but alas we felt it more fitting to send it to this one.

If you enjoy the track then don't forget to Vote Danæviia. :cheer:

Sounding very nice indeed, a lovely song. I think you should do very well in the contest.

Is Colleen related to Gigi?

: Attlas & Colleen D'Agostino - Feels Like | [DNQ / 21/34 (48)]

Welp, it's right back to the drawing board for us then seeing as BJSC clearly don't appreciate a beautiful melodic house song when they get one even from a two-time top 5 artiste. Although if that was a DNQ, even given the sheer competitiveness of the semi, then the rest of my potentials certainly are as well. So uhhh, stay tuned for the 10th anniversary Flop special next month. :cheer:

Meanwhile thanks to Mosquetania's excellent hosting we've now gifted Danæviia's capital city with its own flag
