was it a post-album single? because otherwise it seems very odd that it peaked so low.

The song did eventually go to #1 when it was covered by The X Factor Finalists 2010 anyway.

I love the way you say the XF Finalist got here with it in 2010 as if that was ok lol.

Combined/Weighted

Justin Beiber - Love Yourself 1.000

David Bowie - 0.955

Should be #1 combined in the next update.

Was Bieber always combined no1 then? Thought Stitches had moved ahead!

It was for charity though Steve, so that means you have to grin and bear the massacre of a classic by a load of nobodies for fear of being called a GRUMP.

Love Yourself has a second version although that's not top 100 now so I'm not sure where the value's come from...

It was awful like everyone of those releases! GRUMPS OFF

It's #113 and the #100 is at ~0.0621 according to kworb so I estimated it to be 0.0500. Although it's likely a little higher in value.

Just realised that the song Modern Love was by Bowie! I loved that back in the 80s - no idea it was him. Tune.

Modern Love is such a great track, there are so many tracks I love from Ashes To Ashes, Let's Dance, Fashion and all his 70s stuff, not forgetting China Girl and if I remember rightly the video for it was banned.

As a mad David Bowie fan in the 80s, I bought a lot of his earlier albums on Vinyl, I will always treasure those, I might have to invest on buying them on CD format. I think the Tin Machine project was his weakest, I never got into it, the only albums I haven't got his 2 previous albums and yet to buy Blackstar.

I still can't believe he's gone though he will be sadly missed.

Went to buy Hunky Dory there but the cheapest I could find was 100 quid :(

Yeah it was!

Post-humous correction of his song charting too low

His Vinyls are going to be very hard to find.

"Heroes" is accelerating in the latest update, it could yet get to #1 with its top version if it continues into tomorrow! Looks like it might end up having 2 versions top 10 anyway, and will certainly take the combined #1 in the next update. <3 It's not my favourite Bowie song but as it's the Bowie track with the best chance of doing so I'd really love for it to somehow get to #1 officially (which of course as already pointed out it did do thanks to the X Factor Finalists in 2010).
For it to go to #1 officially it'll need a lead of 0.5 or more and sustain it for a few days. I think it'll do somewhat well at streaming with spotify advertising his music/a playlist for him.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if Bowie get's #1 with Heroes.

Couple of 100 off iTunes no1 atm.

Hopefully Radio 1 will play ALL his chart entries on Friday but what's the betting that if he has a lot they won't play them all?

They'll play any in the top 25 as per usual I'd imagine.

if you count only the top 100

Heroes is now marginally at #1

out of the top 100, Love Yourself is #116

Heroes is #160+617+702

so they might be a similar outcome

It would be immense if Heroes could get to no1, will need more than 60k - though we will probably have another Cascada moment!
As Dan was saying how did Heroes chart so low in 1977? His early 1980 releases entered the chart very high and went In at no1 after 1/2 weeks.

The single came out a couple weeks before the album. I don't know why it didn't chart higher, although it was certainly not hailed as a classic at the time. It seems to have gained in reputation over the years.

Yeh Heroes is an easy song to use on any to show or sports event, it's sounds very pop compared to a lot of his earlier stuff. Surprised it didn't chart higher although I'm not sure what his AirPlay/promo were like at that time.
