February 1, 201610 yr Hope Sia can hold it! I can see Rihanna dropping out of the top 5 (albums) but maybe next week's physical release will get it there? I hope something else comes along and prevents that 'Fast Car' butchering from being #1 next week, as I can't see ZAYN holding it for more than a week.
February 1, 201610 yr So much closeness in both of those charts. Hoping Rihanna can nab the #3 spot with her album
February 1, 201610 yr I can see Rihanna being #3 on albums and #4 on singles Edited February 1, 201610 yr by SKOB
February 1, 201610 yr Wouldn't surprise me if Charlie Puth and Rihanna both dropped out the Top 5, being overtaken by Blackstar and 25. REALLY hope Sia can hold on.
February 1, 201610 yr good to see jonas blue up a place , hopefully 'fast car' will replace the trash currently residing at #1 next week~ :arrr: would be amazing if craig david/big narstie can finally grab that long overdue top10 peak :cheer: :music: :cheer: wow at those small margins in the album chart this week~
February 1, 201610 yr Looks like a new peak for "Best Of Bowie", wonder whether it can snatch the number 1 spot!
February 1, 201610 yr Oh god, Rihanna missing the top3 with her long awaited comeback album is tragic.
February 1, 201610 yr Oh god, Rihanna missing the top3 with her long awaited comeback album is tragic. It has been free for a day, has no big radio single, multiple delays/false starts and has no physical. What exactly were you expecting?
February 1, 201610 yr It has been free for a day and has no physical. What exactly were you expecting? "Free for a day on Tidal" doesn't mean anything, any album out there can be found "for free".
February 1, 201610 yr It actually means a lot. People were able to download a copy of it on Tidal for free, in the same way they can now download a £10 copy from iTunes. The 1 million people worldwide that already own it are unlikely to purchase it. What about the other points I made tho? Do they not mean anything either?
February 1, 201610 yr Was it actually available for long on Tidal though? I got an email from them at like, 2AM, which I didn't see until 8AM. When I clicked that link all the copies were gone... Anyway, brilliant start for Sia, Hope she can stay there!
February 1, 201610 yr There were a million copies available and I think they were gome by 6AM or something
February 1, 201610 yr I really hope Craig David can stay top 10. Lukas Graham will almost certainly push him down one place.
February 1, 201610 yr I was able to get the album for free at about 7:45 in the morning [last thursday] actually. [@Tim]
February 1, 201610 yr I'm not sure the "anyone can get it for free" debate totally works here. Yes you can download it for free, but I think the effort people went to to get the album for free off TIDAL were mostly from people that may have paid for the album (it must have had a fair few legal downloaders getting it in that way). I did still expect it to be doing slightly better though and a peak outside the top 5 would be pretty disastrous, unless it recovers when the physical album comes. I don't think in 5 years people will say "it had free downloads and no main single!!1", they'll just see an album that peaked outside the top 5. But yeah, I think it's far too soon to debate if it's a flop or not so ignore this post Lol. GO SIA.
February 1, 201610 yr A peak outside of the top 5 would indeed be ugly to look at, but for now it's still #1 on iTunes with multiple version and top 4 in the midweeksn very close to #3 so it can't be deemed a flop or disastrous just yet. I was able to get the album for free at about 7:45 in the morning [last thursday] actually. [@Tim] I meant PM, oops. The UK and their weird times :kink:
February 1, 201610 yr Wow, more than 15 years I've waited for Sia to get a #1 album (or just the recognition she so richly deserves really), I hope she stays there!
February 1, 201610 yr Why are people saying it was just free on Tidal? I downloaded it for free straight from her website on Thursday evening,..
February 1, 201610 yr Looking increasing ly likely that she wouldnt have even gone number 1 if she released on friday instead of Wednesday Edited February 1, 201610 yr by 777666jason
February 1, 201610 yr It actually means a lot. People were able to download a copy of it on Tidal for free, in the same way they can now download a £10 copy from iTunes. You don't get my point. In the golden age of streaming and illegal downloads, people who are "paying" for albums are people who want to support an artist's career and feel the "need" to pay for it. Whether it's free on TIDAL or not, EVERY single album can be listened to for free. Sia's album is available for free too (streaming or illegal downloads), it's not just Rihanna.
