This isn't hitting me like her past singles have done, I hope it clicks with more listens!

I do quite like this and it has some catchy parts when it gets going but it just sounds so incredibly dated and cheaply produced. Not a patch on her super boppy tracks like LAM and DFH. I'd be really shocked if this became a hit because it just sounds like something that doesn't have a place in 2016's music scene.
All I can think when I hear this is that it's actually quite good, but would be much better with someone else singing it. Probably Ariana who has a bit of personality to her voice. Kinda odd, I feel like I should love and I probably will wind up loving it, but there's something kinda jarring that is stopping me.
When people are saying Meghan's bland of personality

But she kind of IS. I'm sure she's a lovely girl and everything, but I've always thought of her as being an "accidental pop star" who made a novelty success go the extra mile. She's really dumpy.

Yeah she herself might have an interesting personality (although I'm yet to see any evidence..) but she's just so beige and uninteresting as a pop star! I guess she's only had the one album to prove herself with so it's early days and this is definitely a step in the right direction, it just feels a bit forced to me.
Taking away any personal evidence I may have about her.... Are we talking about the same woman? You think anyone capable of holding the personality-driven 'Lips Are Movin'' is void of a personality? This song is pure fiyahhhh

Can't get over how this title perfectly sums up my reaction to a Meghan Trainor song :')

Actually, I think the production/sound suits her a lot better, it sounds a lot more contemporary than the tacky sound from the last era. I agree though she doesn't really have the right personality to pull this off. The lyrics are still a bit :/, nowhere near as tragic as Dear Future Husband's but still a bit faux feminist and just not really having the effect they should.

I don't know whether it's because of the associations I now have with 'no' but the bits where she's like 'My name is ... no' just make me laugh.

I can see what you mean actually, it's like a Vine parody of someone who doesn't like Meghan Trainor almost

I think part of her being so bland is her attempts to make every song an issue song. Like that's not a bad thing in-and-of-itself but she tackles them in the most straightforward, obnoxious way without any indication that it's relating to her own experiences or that she has a proper story to tell, flitting from one gender-binary issue to the next like she's going to cure all our problems with the patriarchy through DOO-WOP (or...something else as this case may be).

This in particular is an important issue of course (and less self-entitled family values stuff than Dear Future Husband at least and more something I actually agree with) but it feels completely at odds with the design of the song. Which sounds okay, but I'm not sold on, it's too negative for my tastes (I'd have preferred, for a pop song about this issue, something emphasizing the beauty of consent, or you know, anything that gives us a reason we should like this woman). But she's obviously not making it for me, she's making it for people to give their rejection a musical aid.

Personally, I think she needs to do more press and interviews. For me, she's like a younger Kelly Clarkson. She's genuinely very funny.

I had a meet and greet with her when she did her UK tour last year and she was so funny, cute and genuine. I don't think people see that in her.

Not that this matters at all, but there was a kid in front of me that had down's syndrome and his parents explained that he loved her and that he called her his girlfriend.

And she was like "Hi boyfriend!", sat on the floor with him and took lots of pictures, hugs and spent a good 5 minutes with him.. which is rare for a meet and greet.

These days popstars don't do anything of substance, are outrageous or wild. Look at Taylor.. the biggest popstar on the planet and she's a 'blandie'.

Anyway, the song.. sounds like a hit to me. The 'untouchable' breakdowns are amazing

Imagine the graveyard of weaves if Christina Milain came back with this *.*
Oh my lord YES, if it was Christina Milian I would be all over this!!

Christina Milian would be coming for that second iTunes #1 tbh.

I really like this though. It sounds dated af, but I don't care tbh. She reminds me of the international version of Pixie Lott!

LOL and everyone jumped on me saying she was novelty from ABTB

BuffyCharmedwagon well ahead of the bandwagon then!
