Oh G.U.Y is great, but I see it as no more than a strong album track. Such a shame it got as little support as it did though.

I think "So Happy I Could Die" and "ARTPOP" are subtlety done best.

 

"G.U.Y" brings me back to the time I went to Hearst Castle during the middle of December and took a tour saying "Lady Gaga walked on these steps!" It was such a memorable trip.

05. BORN THIS WAY: THE REMIX 5.5250

 

SO SORRY about the long delay. Totally my fault but let's get back on it with another album. And.. it's another remix album oop, although this does mean the top 4 is made up of the four solo studio efforts from her which I think we can all agree is the correct final 4! Born This Way: The Remix is the second remix album released by Gaga and actually the latest one she has done as poor brave ARTPOP never got one :') a lot of the remixes were available previously as part of the single releases from the album which meant it was a wholly successful campaign and nor did it attract a lot of critical acclaim but it does throw up some quite groovy remixes to the already manic songs off the album.

 

I can't say i've listened to the album much and it seems those of you that have, aren't too keen on it as it gets quite a lowly average and drops out in 5th place here.

I can't believe I'm telling you this but I've had a couple of drinks and...

 

 

18. Sexxx Dreams 7.8333

 

Back to the singles and it's another ARTPOP track that falls, this time the seedy Sexxx Dreams are awakened. I can't deny I absolutely ADORE this track. From the moment I heard it at the Swine Fest right up until now, it has been a firm favourite of mine from the album. So playful, cheeky and not taking itself too seriously like some of the songs on the album, it's a joyous, unadulterated affair. The middle-8 with Gaga's talking interruption is one of the CUTEST moments of her career and as the song climaxes into that final chorus it's impossible not to sing-a-long and go along with the ride. It's a shame the era didn't have a lot of success because I think it could have (with a slightly edited version) have been a wonderful, momentous single release. DAMN THIS SONG.

'Sexxx Dreams' criminally low. :( By far and away the best thing on ARTPOP for me.

 

It kind of offends me 'Applause' actually ended up higher than it, but I expected it. :(

Sexxx Dreams is a song I really tried to get into but never got, still don't like and wish it was a lot lower as it is one of my least favourites from Artpop :(

"G.U.Y." has grown on me a fair bit recently, but it's release timing was terrible and too much time had passed to save the era anyway. "Sexxx Dreams", which I really like and do agree would have made a great single, pity the whole era was handled so poorly after the "Do What U Want" controversy.

After really getting into ARTPOP ever since the voting stages of the rate, 'Donatella', 'Fashion!' and 'Mary Jane Holland' have been the ones I've revisited the most so I'm gutted they appear so low and that I gave the latter a lousy 4! :(

 

I agree about 'Electric Chapel' not being the first song that springs to mind in regards to its parent album yet is in fact up there as a highlight when you hear it.

 

'You & I' is not deserving of being deemed the worst single when 'Applause' exists. It's probably down there due to the sheer brilliance of Gaga's singles, but by no means a bad track at all.

 

I think I enjoyed a few of the remixes on The Remix back when it was released which is rare when I love all the originals. The Marilyn Manson featured 'Lovegame' is everything! :wub:

 

Very pleased 'Artpop' has exceeded my expectations and made it to just outside the Top 20. I too always thought it was very underrated too (it definitely has its haters) but it's a special moment on an album of crazy production. More of the same for the next album! Likewise, 'So Happy I Could Die' has always been a favourite of mine and one I didn't expect to see so high.

 

'Sexxx Dreams' was initially a big highlight but it's been sliding down since more songs from the album have overtaken. Still a solid track though.

 

'G.U.Y' is my favourite single from ARTPOP. Such a shame it flopped incredibly badly; was definitely a sign that Gaga was in trouble when even a huge video (which, in the past, has always been a big event) couldn't even save it.

Another album track in the top 20! :cheer: Next from BTW, is the electropop Heavy Metal Lover! Whenever I hear this I just think of Gaga on her bike (when googling gifs for this one that's also all what came up!! :kink: ) I gave this one a 6 in my personal rankings, but feel like I may have been a little harsh :o :kink: Nevertheless it's undeniable that this is a fabulously unique song!
