I wish Radar had been the 4th single from Blackout*, rather than the 4th from Circus. I find it a bit icky that the song is on both albums... they could have at least given it a remix for Circus!

Speaking of Circus, I haaate how messy the bonus track situation is. Exclusives for different stores in different countries, some not on any physical copies... ew. I wish they'd just released the Deluxe physical album as a 19 track version.

* Wouldn't change Break The Ice from being the third single.

'Radar' is infinitely better than 'Break The Ice'.

'Perfume' is ridiculously underappreciated and absolutely amazing, I am willing to bet if it had been released when she was relevant and became a hit it'd be getting the recognition it deserves.

'Radar' really should've been a single during the 'Blackout' era. It having a shoddy release as the 4th single from the era after was just terrible and it felt so random and out of place! It's a shame because it's original potential as a single was insane! I imagined the video to be the sequel to 'Break The Ice' but with it starting off as anime and then her breaking out into a real-life 'Toxic' motorbike chase-lite pursuit of a guy!

At #23 and taking quite a leap in average wise 'Lucky', released in August 2000 as the 2nd single from her 2nd album 'Oops I Did It Again' and besides being one of her best ballads, it has gained even more significance since it's release, due to it being her ahead of time confession as what's fame really like. The song itself is about a fictional movie star called 'Lucky' who despite having fame, wealth and adoring fans, she is in fact very lonely and unhappy at what the price of fame had cost her. Considering what would happen to Britney in her personal life, through the coming years, I honestly think that looking back at this song, she's obviously talking about herself and its' quite eerie at how accurate these lyrics would become. Although the video itself tells the story in a wonderfully campy and cheesy way, it's word's still touch's your heart. I honestly think that even now, people are going back to this song more and more and wondered that if they could have predicted Britney's eventual downfall. Upon release it became another success for her by topping the charts in Austria, Germany, Sweden & Switzerland, while attaining top 5 peaks in Canada, Ireland, Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway & the UK. In the USA it achieved moderate success by reaching a #23 peak.

First proper causality for me! Lucky is so good. So many memories. I'm assuming the top 25 will be pretty much flaw-free given this is Britney.

'Lucky' is fantastic. I must admit that I thought it'd be higher though! It seems to have a big fanbase on here. So to see it as low as #23... Hmmm...

It still terrifies me how much you can establish a connection between that song and onto her life and career. So scarily familiar!

It's funny how from Sometimes, up until Gimmie More, Britney's Billboard positions weren't that great. Can't beleive Lucky only went to #23 in US! Lucky was quite a big, well known top 5 hit here in the UK, I remember it being everywhere at the time it was released. Even Toxic only got to #9 on Billboard and I'd still put that as her 2nd most iconic song!

Yeah, I've never understood how her Billboard positions were never that great despite being one of the biggest ever US stars. Then you get the first three Femme Fatale singles all going to #1 despite her fading relevancy elsewhere in the world..?

Yeah, even 3 went to #1 in USA but Slave only went to 27! Very odd.

Lucky is amazing how is it gone already! I'd say it's in my top 5 Britney songs ever! Wish I'd voted in this! :(

Also Perfume is so underrated

#22. "3" | The Singles Collection

Avg. 7.345

At #22 we have one of Britney's more controversial numbers "3", released in October 2009 as the first and only single from her 2nd compilation album "The Singles Collection", and actually, and finally a song that has an 11 rate, (first since #37). This also marks her 10 year anniversary at the time of being in the business, which was also why another greatest hits album was released so soon after only 2 albums. It's a fun song full of racy and quite odd lyrics, and what has to be the strangest reference to Peter, Paul and Mary, an American folk singing trio, ever to be put on record. I know the song is about threesomes, but what's with the odd reference. On the production side though, I do find it very slick and you can tell Britney's letting loose and having fun with it. But honestly I wouldn't rank it as one of my favourites from her at all, in fact she's had far better than this, and honestly this song is nothing more than just a marketing tool to re-sell a collection cd that most people already owned, even though it didn't quite work as well as they thought, as this song did well, 'The Singles Collection', pretty much tanked worldwide. As for the song though, it's a fun number, nothing more. I also find it funny that how during the pre-digital age, that most of Britney's singles didn't chart high in the USA, examples= (Toxic #9, I'm A Slave 4 U #27, Everytime #15, Lucky #23, I'm Not A Girl #102 & Oops #9), but in the UK they were all smash hits, then during the download era, things reversed with this becoming another US chart topper for her, while only making the lower end of the top 10 in the UK. It's funny that, even though those songs didn't get far, they are far more memorable than anything she's done over the last couple of years, and honestly who (apart from Britney fans), still remember this song. Upon release, like I already said it became her 3rd USA #1 hit, as well as topping the Canadian charts. Elsewhere it managed top 10 peaks in Sweden, South Korea, Finland, Australia, Ireland, UK, Belgium, Israel, Switzerland, Czech Republic, France & Norway, while managing top 20/40 peaks in 8 other countries, therefore becoming another successful hit for her.

here's the reason why she didn't do well with earlier singles

- "Oops I did it again" (single) didn't have a physical CD single release in the US, it only had a really limited release in order to make it eligible for the Hot 100. The song peaked at #9 on the Hot 100 based on airplay alone, a proper physical release would've taken it without a doubt to #1 in the US, but the label prefered to use this strategy in order to boost and focus on album sales.

- "Lucky" didn't have a physical CD single release in the US and also got a limited release, it got its #23 peak on the Hot 100 based on the airplay support it got on pop stations, in fact the song performed well on Pop radio and would have likely been a top 10 hit with a regular proper physical release. Once again the label selected this strategy in order to keep focussing on album sales.

- "Stronger", unlike all of the other singles from the album had a proper official CD single release, this with the pop airplay causing the song to get a considerably better peak than "Lucky" at #11 on the Hot 100, the song got weaker airplay than "Lucky" and was nearly a top 10 hit thanks to its physical release meaning that "Lucky" would've pretty much reached the top 10 with the same treatment "Stronger" received. "Stronger" still performed good on pop radio.
