April 9, 20169 yr haha keep thinking it's One Stroke Minty also posted All Saints won't hold onto the top 10 in albums!! So sales must be very low... but not sure, he's been wrong (many times) before Nope, he didn't say that. Someone asked if All Saints can stay top 5 and his reply was: @MintRoyale do you think all saints can hold on to that TOP5? Unfortunately not, but top 10 should be on.
April 9, 20169 yr I wonder where the Voice winners track will peak this year, its an original track but its boring as hell. :nocheer: Kevin to win please
April 9, 20169 yr Great to see All Saints getting a top 10 album. Hopefully a top 5 can still be possible if not ensured.
April 9, 20169 yr Who's nmuber one in albums, Lumineers seem to be leading the bunch on itunes, and they have 2 versions of the album out
April 9, 20169 yr The All Saints comeback is sadly nothing short of a dirty flop - Seems there is plenty of nostalgia for them to sell out shows but zero interest in new material, They should have tacked the new album onto an extended version of their 'Greatest Hits' and gone on an arena tour.

Um  the single has been top 40 in iTunes recently (might still be there now) and they're coming for a top 10 album. Considering they were last in the chart 10 years ago and with an album that only peaked at #40, how is this a "dirty flop"? I expected them to do way worse than this in all honesty.
April 10, 20169 yr Author Yeah all Saints are doing very well considering they're only being played on radio 2!
April 10, 20169 yr The Last Shadow Puppets won't hang on to number 1, Adele's had enough top spot action for a while and the Lumineers may rise to the top, but I'd prefer All Saints to get it.

Or to put it another way their comeback single is going to miss the Top 100 and the album will open with lower sales than 'Studio 1' and likely have a 2 or 3 week chart run - I love the group and new album but this is hardly a spectacular result. The were deemed a flop last era with a Top 3 single and an album that the new one will struggle to outsell. Anyway hope I'm wrong on the All Saints but can't see it.
April 10, 20169 yr well a top 10 album would be great for All Saints considering how poorly the singles have done and the fact they're too 'irrelevant' to get Radio 1/commercial airplay.
April 10, 20169 yr You cannot compare album sales to 2005 where the market was a whole lot stronger than now. This may not outsell Studio 1 but it will chart a hell of a lot higher and that's what matters. One Strike was never gonna be big with Radio 1 snubbing them, and Radio 2 is not great for single sales. It's a miracle we even have new material so I don't think a top 10 album is a flop :P
April 10, 20169 yr Does anyone happen to know what sales Studio 1 had in its first week, just out of curiosity?

It's two totally different markets. You just can't compare. Getting a souly radio 2 act top 10 in the album charts, I'd consider a success. And the single is doing a lot better on sales than I ever expected.

They're doing really well for a reuniting band who haven't been on the radar musically for a whole decade. Capital and Radio 1 cater to the younger artists and audiences, Heart only plays songs that are already hits which leaves Radio 2 - a station that has little to no impact on the singles chart. Having the third best selling album in the UK (even if only for a day) must be some kind of success, right?
April 10, 20169 yr Does anyone happen to know what sales Studio 1 had in its first week, just out of curiosity? 12,420 sold to debut at #40.
April 10, 20169 yr 12,420 sold to debut at #40. If Red Flag sold that much this week then it'd probably get to number 2!
April 10, 20169 yr This may not outsell Studio 1 but it will chart a hell of a lot higher and that's what matters. Could not disagree with this more! I'd much rather the album charts at #32 and becomes a gold seller than have a chart run of 6-48-97-out and 20k in sales.

I think you're forgetting how much the album market has declined in sales though. If the market were the same size, this could easily outsell Studio 1. It likely won't because album sales are so much lower now, not because they're flopping. EOY positions are probably the best way to compare year for year.
April 10, 20169 yr I agree with both of you a A consistant seller is better than a high peak however album sales have nosedived too and with very little radio support to make any chart impact is a success
