May 6, 20169 yr anohni, death grips, james blake, radiohead all out the same f***ing week. *.* so far 3/3 hits. let's hope radiohead don't disappoint.
May 7, 20169 yr I dunno, 'Burn the Witch' just didn't live up to what I thought it would live up to. May just need more listens. The video was interesting. So far I prefer 'Daydreaming', it was really gripping, both the song and the video. Thom's face at the end there was.. idk. Great video, and certainly a decent release for Radiohead- a band that I've been meaning to listen to more for a while. Do it :D They can be really satisfying once you properly get into them. Now to go listen to James Blake's new album for the first time :o hypeee
May 7, 20169 yr I watched both videos all the way through, and neither of the songs has really gripped me so far. The videos are so interesting (if a bit meandering at times) and the songs are so ambient that it feels more like the soundtrack to a set of weird but kinda cool modern short films than music videos at times. Not sure how well it'll work as stand-alone listening music, but as far as incidental music goes it works very nicely (which is a vibe I get from a lot of Radiohead's music, and is probably why Johnny Greenwood's film scores work very well). I'm not a huge fan of the production on either track. The arrangements are fantastic (speaking of, someone has already done a brief analysis of Burn the Witch, which is pretty interesting!), but the mixing sounds so bass heavy and muddled which makes it hard to decipher what's going on some times. Definitely prefer Daydreaming to Burn the Witch so far, though. It's a bit more interesting musically, even with that weird ending. Not too impressed so far, but I'll just have to wait until the album comes out to see how everything works out in context, I suppose.
May 7, 20169 yr Author There's a nice little hook from 1:07 to 1:10 in the strings. Without it I wouldn't really like it at all.
May 8, 20169 yr It's out there now... and titled 'A Moon Shaped Pool' http://pitchfork-cdn.s3.amazonaws.com/content/radioheadartforthenewalbum2016.jpg Edited May 8, 20169 yr by dandy*
May 8, 20169 yr Just noticed the studio version of True Love Waits is the final track, it all sounds typically atmospheric so far...

May 8, 20169 yr ahem, who edited my thread title? Radiohead - 8th album is a much better title than the actual album title indeed. What did the moderators think?!
May 8, 20169 yr Author I was the dirty culprit, Colm :kink: Ok. It would be nice if I could be left to edit my own thread titles and subtitles. I think moderation of that degree is only necessary if something is offensive. I appreciate you're being helpful but I'm not used to having things edited by other people unless there is an offense being caused.
May 8, 20169 yr Author Radiohead - 8th album is a much better title than the actual album title indeed. What did the moderators think?! I think I should have been left to edit it myself - after all, I know where the edit button is, I already edited the title when the news broke about the album being released today.
